It's back to the daily grind today, but you can still maybe have some fun in between all the soul-crushing monotony and meetings about meetings. We can even save you some money on apps, which will certainly be a great conversation starter when you run into the head of international accounting and compliance at the vending machine. Actually, if your job is anything like that, you should maybe just quit and enjoy the cheap apps.

I wanted Plex for so long, but now I'm not sure I need it. I think I'll have to get it just because it's an app I've waited for such a long time to go on sale. I just don't need it for when I'm home (as I just access my shared network files via ES File Explorer), but I'll fire up the Plex server again just for the purdyness.

It's not just looks. Synchronized watched/unwatched/progress, automatic server-side transcoding based on client device, and the ability to sync files automatically to your device or cloud accounts are all very powerful features that go beyond the eye-candy. But the eye-candy is awfully nice, too.

I bought plex a while ago anticipating that the Chromecast SDK would be released... Sounds like it's happening in december!

  • Rohan Shankar

Hmm.. Plex - Buy or Not to buy. Anyone got info on whether it will get Chromecast access?

    • John Petersen

It will eventually. Chromecast or not, though, the app is pretty amazing. I highly recommend it while it's on sale if you have or plan to set up a Plex server.

I bought after having a "free" version of the app for over a year. Very useful for me because I run an HTPC on an old Dell desktop at home. So now I can stream all my TV shows / Movies over LTE anywhere I am.

Grabbed Spirits. It's been on my wishlist for a long time.

I also grabbed Solar System HD Deluxe Edition. Spectacular looking live wallpaper on phone and tablet alike (love the gyroscope 3D feel to it).
