SoundCloud is known for letting users share original audio, and it's a great way to hear a bit of what creative types are out there, well, creating. With millions of users, there's ample reason to keep the Android app from stagnating for too long. So version 2.7 is now rolling out, and it brings a handful of new features that improve the interface and make discovering new content even easier.

The side menu has been redesigned to make most-used functions more accessible. It comes with a slimmer look that improves upon what is already an attractive UI. Some settings have been tucked away under the options menu, such as Who to follow, activity, record, and settings. In addition to those changes, an 'Explore' feature lets users sort through trending music by genre and popularity.

What's new:

  • Brand new Explore feature: discover trending music & audio
  • Cleaner, simpler design with a new side menu for the most-used functions
  • Who to follow, activity, record, and settings are now accessible from the options menu

If you don't already have SoundCloud installed, you can try out the latest version in the Play Store below.

Born and raised in the rural South, Bertel knows what it's like to live without 4G LTE - or 3G, for that matter. The only things he likes sweeter than his tea are his gadgets, and while few objects burn more than a metal phone on a summer day, he prefers them that way anyway.

I've asked about it and they aren't planning on adding it anytime soon, though the person I talked to said they would consider adding it later on.

I find the new "Explore menu has lost functionality. "Electronic"used to contain icons for about 30 different genres. "For example you could hit "Trance"within that and then play the latest popular uploads non-stop, like radio, without needing to click a new track every time one ended. Now you just get a scroll track menu and there is no consecutive track play. And there isn't even a Trance menu icon anymore. SoundCloud just went from awesome to average.
