Flaming red and safety vest yellow might accessorize well if you're a firefighter with an insatiable enthusiasm for Nexus hardware, but they'll stand out like a sore thumb for anyone else. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but if you prefer your Nexus 5 protective case in a more subtle hue, Google just posted both black and grey versions of the bumper case to the Play Store.

Like the more flamboyant options, the grey and black cases are $34.99 each, and they cover everything except the screen and camera. Pretty standard stuff, and certainly pricey, but none of the third-party cases have a "Nexus" badge on the back, do they? Both cases will ship to the United States and Canada and leave the warehouse in 1-2 business days as of the time of writing. Nexus fans have had an embarrassment of riches when it comes to accessory support lately: just yesterday a brand new wireless charger and the book-style Quick Cases went on sale as well.

Of course they're all pretty pricey and will probably be in short supply despite that, so third-party cases might be a better option for the more frugal user. Cruzerlite makes some fetching cases in the same style, with lots of colors and designs to choose from, starting at about $13. Just sayin'.

such BS...$10.99 to ship to Canada?
Would cost $50 total, rip off

You're more than welcome to go find a knockoff on ebay for $12 shipped.

Had to get to quick covers since my wife scratched the @$%! out of her Galaxy Nexus by throwing it in her purse and letting it bounce around with whatever else is in there. Hopefully the camera thing isn't too annoying. Mine lasted for over 2 years before I finally cracked the screen 2 weeks before my Nexus 5 arrived.

i don't understand why they are calling thses bumper cases. When i hear bumper case, i think of the ones that are just on the sides and nothing on the back.

Those are Bumpers. Bumper cases are both a bumper, for handling drops, and a case, which covers a good portion of the phone.

Those Cruzerlite cases look damn good! Thanks!
