The Galaxy Gear is twice the price of the Pebble and pricier than both iterations of Sony's SmartWatch, but it isn't necessarily a more complete product. A particular sore spot is how the watch handles notifications, limiting not only which apps can send them, but not actually displaying the contents for most apps. The latest update to the Galaxy Gear Manager app alleviates this somewhat. Now users can pick which apps send messages to the Gear and even read the contents on the watch itself. SamMobile has shared images of the new feature in action.

Owners need to have installed the latest firmware version for the Gear in order to take advantage of this new functionality. After that, just install the update from Samsung's app store. It doesn't take care of all of our complaints with Samsung's product, but it's definitely a step in the right direction.

apparently its only avail to users in the UK?

        • LB

Nope....I'm in the US and updated yesterday. You should find it in the Samsung Apps on your phone.

Initially, I tried to update via the watch and it said my manager was up to date, but I found the update in the Samsung store on my phone.

What did you find in the Samsung App store? I have the new gear manager installed but the watch is not on the MK7 firmware did you install that via odin?

          • Soulster11

What app did you install from the Samsung App store, Gear Manager? I installed that and still no new notifications. The firmware on the Gear itself is still no on MK7 as sam mobile states. Did you use Odin and install MK7?

            >Phone Home Screen > Apps > Samsung Apps > Samsung GALAXY Gear Manager.

I am on T-Mobile US. (don't think that should make a difference)
