CyanogenMod-Thumb

The Galaxy Note 8.0 is a pretty capable tablet, though it does have several drawbacks. While the painfully low 1280 by 800 display can't be helped, its default software configuration is far less immutable. If TouchWiz just grinds your gears, you will be happy to know that CyanogenMod nightlies are now available for both the 3G (GT-N5100) and WiFi-only (GT-N5110) versions of the tablet. Sure, anyone who installs them now may be sacrificing stability and other functionality, but that's the price some are willing to pay for stock Android and quicker access to updates.

Both downloads hover between 160 - 170 MB in size. Flash these as you would any other ROM. Just be sure to download the correct GApps package beforehand. Those Google apps won't install themselves, you know.

      • Chris

Great news. Just started today to experiment with CM on my S4mini and instantly fell in love with it. As I also own a GN 8 I'm was disappointed, that there was no CM for it. Fortunately that has now changed.

  • Mystery Man

nice good too see this tablet getting supported

  • Justin Wood

I'm already running a pretty good unofficial version of it on my GN8, so I think I'll just hold out for CM11.

  • umer khalique

ahahaha, if you want a already perfectly stable cm10.2 rom for the note 8.0 wifi then try the cmb rom over at xda. I've used it and its the best cm rom for note 8 but i changed back to touchwiz cuz i cant stand losing the Spen functions and the Snote :l my current setup also gives me a clear 1.5 days of battery which is a huge deal for the note 8

What toolkit did u use? I can't root mine for the life of me

    • K Rankins

Can u share exactly what features relating to the pen you lose with CM... ? Does it not work at all or is it just some of the more advanced features?

If it's not for S Note I would install it today. Or is there any note taking app equal to S Note? I bought Quill but it still has a long way to go in term of UX.

    • K Rankins

Papyrus is a great alternative. Until there is cloud integration with snote, I think it will remain a novelty.

Wish the SGH-I427M (Canadian/AT&T version) was supported :(
