Update: Best Buy didn't waste any time updating their prices on the newly-reduced Moto X. The prices for the various carrier versions of the Moto X below are now $0, $100 off the retail value.

We're getting into the stretch of the calendar that deal hunters spend all year preparing for: the pre-Christmas consumerism smorgasbord. It seems to be happening earlier and earlier, and Best Buy is getting in on the action even before Halloween. The most relevant deal on their promotional site is an instant $100 rebate off of most of the smartphones in the store, applicable to new contracts or new phone lines.

The deal works on just about any phone for AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon. The Galaxy Note 3 for AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon is $199.99. The LG G2 is just a hundred bucks for AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon, plus a $50 gift card, a fantastic deal on one of the most powerful phones around. The HTC One for AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon is free, bupkis, and nada, as is the One Mini for AT&T. If Motorola is more your style, Verizon's DROID Ultra and DROID MAXX are both $99.99, the DROID Mini is free, and the Moto X on AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon is $99.99 FREE.

The rebates appear to be applicable for almost any phone, even iPhones if you're shopping for a friend (and no, you can't get cash back). Unfortunately phones from T-Mobile and other operators seem to be notably absent. Some of the Sprint and Verizon rebates are only applied once you go to the individual phone page, and a few of the deals are only available today and tomorrow.

Check out the full listing of more than 200 devices across various price points at the link below - alternate colors are also available. This deal may or may not be viable in brick-and-mortar locations, but you can select in-store pickup. Shipping is free on all the phones in the promotion. At the moment there's no end date for the sale. It looks like the rebates are not applicable to non-contract prices.

Note: if something goes wrong with your phone, you will have to get it replaced which will cost MORE than you paid for it here. That's why most go to the carriers to get their phone, so they can get the insurance.

    • Branden Carrick

that is incorrect. You can still get the carrier offered insurance if you buy it through best buy mobile. (assurion, etc). Not to mention, you can get GeekSquadBlackTie which is best buys protection plan - now offers all the same coverage as the carrier offered insurance

      • tomn1ce

The GeekSquadBlackTie protection plan doesn't cover lost/theft.

  • psychoace

The reason why T-Mobile is absent is because Best Buy doesn't sell T-Mobile phones anymore. Other than pre-paid ones of course.

    • tomn1ce

Not to mention that tmobile doesn't have contracts on it services only on its device payment plans.

    Moto X just fell to $99.99 - $100 = free as well.

    • gspida

How much was it before the drop?

      • gspida

nvm I wish they would do the same for the g2

Some commenter(s) here predicted the Moto X price would quickly drop substantially.

I agreed and it seems they were right. It just wasn't priced competitively, despite some people saying that the Moto/Google vibe somehow made it worth more.

From what I can tell, Bes tBuy doesn't offer MotoMaker, right? Or if I'm upgrading via AT&T can I get a MotoMaker voucher through Best Buy?

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Actually, I got an email yesterday from Best Buy PR, which said "ยท ** *Moto Maker Launches in Stores Today"*

    • Asimoalex

No they've had it for a while they have the cards up at my store for about 2 weeks

  • Kndll31

HTC is no longer FREE for ATT they've change the price SMH

The reason why T-Mobile is absent is because Best Buy doesn't sell T-Mobile phones anymore. Other than pre-paid ones of course......

  • JazzEspresso

it sucks that existing att customer upgrade no price drop, the same price...unless I am doing something wrong, nevertheless, I will stop by bestbuy store and see

  • Colton

Why does this say HTC One will be free when every time I try it totals as $99.99?

    • Caleb Rodriguez

Because your probably upgrading. It says for new 2 year contract line. Won't work if you are eligible for an upgrade.

  • bean

so does anyone know if the promotion works in store as well?

  • dom

Can anyone tell me if this deal is still going on, because that would be fantastic news to me

Recently I was REALLY low on money and debts were eating me from all sides! That was UNTIL I decided to make money on the internet! I went to surveymoneymaker dot net, and started filling in surveys for cash, and surely I've been far more able to pay my bills! I'm so glad, I did this! - acly
