HTC takes the Developer Edition HTC One pretty seriously. The company has been good about pushing updates to the device, and now the full Android 4.3 ROM can be downloaded as a ZIP from the HTC Dev website. That's more service than even the Google Play Edition HTC One is getting.

Update: The Android 4.3 RUU has now been posted as well.

This isn't just the kernel source, which is what OEMs have to post when they release a new build of Android. HTC has chosen to include everything you need to flash the phone – the entire factory system image. Of course, it'll take a little knowhow to get that done. If you want to tinker around, the download is 1.1GB, and there is also a build of Android 4.1.2 if you like it old school.

This is awesome form from HTC, I must say. I guess the Heres to Change campaign means more than we thought.

  • Ashish Raj

ONE right step at a time!!

  • Guillaume

Already cooked with my custom ROM :)

    • Rafael Lopez

Been using 4.3 for months now. GE and Sense versions
      ;-P

The new firmware and the 4.3 update really make the phone smooth as butter.

    • Simon Belmont

I don't disagree with you. Although, it already seems buttery smooth on Android 4.1.2 on my wife's HTC One.

Of course, she has to wait for a carrier to get its act together to get the update. Oh well.

I love their use of the quick controls panel. This is how it should be, Google - toggles first, with a long press (or in HTC's case, menu button press) to jump into that specific settings menu.

    • PhoenixPath

      Absolutely.

This is actually more "Google Play"-esque than Google's own quick settings. the 3-dot to go to the menu-page is *perfect*.

No guessing at long vs. quick press. tap to toggle, dots to menu. Totally intuitive.

      Have an up-vote, Sir.

Awesome feeling when you download the image before AP posts about it. B|

We need some sleep sometimes. But really, it's the timing of the post - no point for us to post at 11pm when we can wait 5 hours and post at 4am PT when the traffic is double and everyone is waking up.

HTC is suck...keep saying updated end of Sept. But now in the next 3 weeks, I'm very disappointed and I won't buy HTC again..very poor support. My rate to HTC is F

    • gtg465x

Um... September isn't over and HTC is already releasing the 4.3 update...

      • Robert Boluyt

Only for the GPe and Developer models. Intl and Verizon One's are on 4.2.2 and US AT&T/TMO Ones are still on 4.1.2. They did promise 4.3 by 30 September, but just tweeted recently they're going to miss that date.

    • Simon Belmont

It's not really HTC at this point. It's the carriers who have to test the update on their networks and check it for regressions and/or quality assurance.

Be patient, and you'll get it soon enough. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

And who is quicker with 4.3 ?

      Samsung ? No.

    • http://www.standupforkids.org blackroseMD1

You need to pay closer attention then. HTC has been the first one out of the gate with the 4.3 update. Samsung apparently isn't rolling out 4.3 until October or November.

Go ahead and buy someone else next time. I'm sure you'll be back in here talking about how much you miss HTC and their timely updates.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a minor miracle? A phone with a highly customized version of Android getting updated to the latest version only 2 months after Nexus phones?

  • Kristopher Sheresteboff

Forgive me for asking, but can you flash this like as a Customized rom? Will it work on Canada Rogers? As I see the region is WWE... Thank You!

  • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

The RUU is now up as well.

  • Jason D. Gilmore

SO will the update work in the states? Or does the region even matter?

  • James Turner

Don't see how this is better than their servicing of the Google Play Edition.. I've already been through the two versions of 4.3 on my HTC One GPe. I got the first OTA back in August and got the more secured version pushed to my phone two weeks ago if not more.

I have the AT&T HTC One, I downloaded the zip version 4.18.502.7 file now how do I update into my phone?

    Best Regards
