According to HTC Americas President Jason Mackenzie, a bunch of HTC One owners across North America will soon receive an update to Android 4.3. He just sent out the following tweet.

This news comes more as confirmation than as a surprise. Mr. Mackenzie sent out a tweet last month asserting that Android 4.3 was coming out for all US and Canadian HTC Ones by the end of September. Today's tweet verifies that developers and our neighbors to the north will be in for a treat by early next week at the latest.

Evidence of the impending update has also appeared elsewhere. Rogers has posted that the update is due out by late September. TELUS, on the other hand, says that their update will be due out in early October.

As for the US, well, Mackenzie had this to share:

And that's that. HTC still looks committed to getting Android 4.3 out to existing HTC One owners as soon as possible, but we don't yet have an ETA stateside. Hopefully if the update doesn't hit at the same time as the Canadian rollout, it will follow not too long after.

Damn the US carriers! They are ruining android!

    • NemaCystX

yeah, you don't see them controlling how Apple pushes out its updates to iOS... totally ridiculous

      • Stacey Liu

Because Apple has leverage. Everyone carrier wants the iPhone, so Apple gets to call the shots.

Android OEMs have to compete for spots in carrier lineups. Carriers aren't competing for the phones.

        • robert

Yea I know money talks but so do we when we kick down the big bucks for a phone it's just that we end up suffering just because the phone is different from the apple devices

      • robert

It's just sad, I really hope the new nexus phone changes the game, I'll hold onto my htc one for the features but we need the new nexus to kick apple's ass, Samsung will strangle the iPhone 5s with the s5 they have a 64 bit chip in the works and they want to focus on optimizing the software they already have which is great in my eyes

  • Dochux

I hope the turn around is quick.

  • Elman Ortega

    already have it

  • remister

It's pretty funny that I tweeted him about this stating he had a week left before the end of Sept. That's cool, now to wait for TMO to certify and brand the update :(

    • robert

I bet it's going to take them forever, they only care about iPhones and Samsung all the other phones are left in the dust because of there popularity, even the s4 hasn't seen an update from what I know, I'm so sick of these carriers thinking they run the smartphone game it's sickening how us customers are treated, I regret not sticking with a nexus since that's our only saving grace for us android users

      • remister

Sadly time can only tell. I would custom ROM it, but I like the Zoe Mode...

    • PhoenixPath

Really. I'd love to see a 4.2.2 or even 4.3 update for the One on TMo sometime soon....

Jumped from VZW due to poor update schedules and network issues. Well, at least the network issues have all but disappeared. :-/
