If you've been following along with ASUS' recent releases, you'll already know what's coming with the MeMO Pad 8 and 10: a couple of budget-friendly tablets sporting screen sizes equivalent to their model names. This duo is brand-spankin'-new and falls right into place in the existing MeMO Pad line.

MeMO Pad 8

The primary difference between the two units is the display size – most other specs are either identical, or very similar. Here's a rundown of what each offers:

While neither offering has what we'd like to think of as high-end specs, it's worth remembering that has clearly never been the case for the entire MeMO Pad lineup. Despite that, both of the MeMO Pads that I've reviewed were extremely impressive in their own right.

And, of course, these will likely go very easy on the wallet, too; though pricing information isn't available at this time. We'll keep you posted as more details become available.

no GPS in the MemoPad 8? :( ohhh

1GB of RAM and 720p is no longer acceptable unless this is a very low end device, the memo pad 8 has absolutely nothing going for it over the nexus 7 except for a micro SD card slot, but that slot is not worth everything else you'd lose if they were priced the same. I'd have to see this going for 200$ at most for the 16gb to even suggest it to anyone

7" is small for me, so whatever could offer the Nexus 7 over this one, it won't be any bigger...

    this is a joke

Memo pad HD 7 is nice tab for $149. The world doesn't revolve around Nexus and its not trying to be a Nexus.

2" larger and same resolution. Ugh.

  • Nick Klenchik

'Can we not' with that resolution anymore?

Lame specs, 1GB RAM, what are they left over parts from the 2012 Nexus 7.

My Asus Memo Pad HD 8 has started randomly going to the lock screen and just before that the keyboard would disappear, now virtually unusable i managed after much frustration to get into settings and select factory reset, hopefully the problems won't persist but just wandering if anyone else has had this issue and whether or not resetting it will fix the problem. Oh, and what is causing this problem in the first place?
