We like to feature at least one or two kid-friendly games in our biweekly roundups, but this one looks so good that we had to give it its own post. LEGO DUPLO is the famous company's line of brick sets for kids age 5 and under, with easy formations, bright colors, and big, swallow-proof pieces. The Android DUPLO game focuses on the branded train sets.

The game itself is a mix between LEGO's standard construction and a sort of "baby's first train simulator." Kids will start and stop the LEGO train, hook up passenger and cargo cars, and build bridges and tracks to avoid simple obstacles. But the best part (at least from a parent's point of view) is that unlike the other LEGO games and most games aimed at older kids, LEGO has made a concentrated effort to make DUPLO safe for both your rugrat and your wallet. Once you start the game, there are no advertisements, no links to external web pages, and no in-app purchases. All that, and the game is free too.

LEGO isn't exactly being altruistic here. The whole point is to get kids excited about the real DUPLO playsets, which certainly aren't free. But as a quality, worry-free game, I'm sure parents will appreciate the gesture. LEGO DUPLO Train is compatible with Android 2.3.3 and higher.

I'll be getting this just for the lack of ads, links, and in-app purchases!

Well done, Lego! I don't have a child but if I did, this would be on the tablet he/she uses.

Done, my son already has the other 2 apps on -my- his tablet. LEGO actually has some decent apps for smaller children.

    Awesome, my daughter loves Lego's.

Considering how my son claimed my A500, S3, and my wifes iPad, we are always looking for titles that offer anything like this especially ad free apps. Please keep the notifications coming regarding child friendly apps.

Several of the other LEGO games have no ads either...the DUPLO ZOO and PEKABOO comes to mind. The latter is a little short on content but great for a 1-2 year old.

Wish all games had no iap, ads, links, etc.... Wish Gameloft would just shut down.
