It's apparently the season for signup pages at Verizon Wireless. After seeing the Moto X and HTC One pages go up earlier this week, now it's LG's turn in the spotlight. The LG G2 now has its very own place where you can input your email address to probably not receive the "latest information," but you can always hope.

2013-08-14 14_58_12-LG G2 _ Learn more about the LG G2 on Verizon Wireless - Verizon Wireless

The LG G2 on Verizon looks a bit different than the international G2 we were shown at the launch event. The back buttons are different, and the camera border is a bit larger. Verizon slapped a big logo on the back, and crammed a small one in on the front, offset to the right. It looks kind of lame.

One interesting bit of information from this page: Qi wireless charging will be built into the G2 as a Verizon-exclusive feature. Other than that, it's the same G2 – Snapdragon 800 ARM chip, 5.2-inch 1080p LCD, 13MP camera, and super-slim bezels.

The fuck? A hardware feature as an exclusive? Weird...

    • irtechneo

That's Verizon for ya. They had Samsung disable the wireless charging on the Note 2 to help promote the Droid DNA that had wireless charging. (Not sure if anyone ever figured out a way around that as I do believe it was a hardware mod)

    • Steve Freeman

Storage amounts are hardware too, you realize...

i think i would get this phone if not for the ugly UI... if it has unlocked bootloader then i may consider it...

    • esper256

Similar feelings here. Also interested to see if the Moto X appears for VZW in the Google Play store. I want to wait until reviewers actually own one and reveal details about real world battery life and bootloader status.

    • ProductFRED

It's Verizon. I highly doubt it has an unlocked bootloader.

  • Cory_S

That is really strange. If they were capable of fitting a wireless charger in it why would they make it exclusive? I'd think it would also have to be a bit thicker.

    • http://www.vinsonimages.com yamaha83

all the phones will probably have the hardware, but wont be turned on unless going to verizon...

    • ProductFRED

Because Verizon most likely paid LG to make it an exclusive.

      • Cory_S

Obviously they paid them for an exclusive, but it still seems like a lot of resources to put into play for such a thing. Either way I hope Yamaha is right and all devices do indeed have the hardware and it can be unlocked.

  • Sean Stone

It bothers me that they use a bad render of the phone, rather than a picture of the phone. The buttons don't actually look like that.

  • Nathaniel Webb

Carrier exclusives need to die an ugly death.

    • ProductFRED

I was just thinking that. This is f*cking annoying. Not even a software exclusive feature, but a hardware exclusive feature.

      • jonathan3579

I'm hoping it's just a back cover/battery combination so any G2 can access this feature.

        • ProductFRED

I believe the entire phone has a non-removable battery/back. The South Korean does though, but it has a smaller battery.

          • jonathan3579

Well to be fair, the Nexus 4 is supposed to have a non-removable battery/back but are both replaced with ease. I guess we won't know much about this phone until iFixit gets ahold of one. Right now, I'm hoping for a similar situation though.

    • TejasEric

I totally agree and had this exact thought before I clicked on the link to read this topic.

Too bad a boycott can't be organized for any device that has carrier exclusives! That would be the only way to kill them. Hurt the device manufacturers bottom line.

  • Sancho

Seeing as this is the only phone you can get in america (barring international phones) this is not a bad deal.

  • QwietStorm

Qi charging as an exclusive feature. I fucking HATE corporations.

  • Manny Subia

Is it at all possible that the placement shown on the ad is only for the ad?..........Maybe,......Hopefully they will be smaller/in a better location when it's released?

That logo right next to the ear speaker is riciculous,......seriously. I'm all over this phone but that has to go

    • alexcue

I have the VZW Note II and I have to look at that ridiculous logo on the home button every day. I can't decide which phone has it worse off :-

  • RaptorOO7

If it had microSD I might have considered it, but I just can't live with the bloatware and 23-25GB of space. I am looking towards the GN3 in the late fall and sell my 32GB GS4 then. It will simply out perform this turd, screen size, memory, storage, quality, OS updates.

  • Qorse

Ugh. 5.2 inch screen. Where am I supposed to put it? In the bag with my tablet? Pass.

  • Jon

    Qi charging?! OH BOY!
