Googlers have alluded to an expansion of the Glass Explorers program for some time now, but we may finally be seeing some forward motion on the idea.

Posted by Explorer Ryan Mott and confirmed by Glass community advocate Sarah Price, the screenshot below shows an email being sent out to some explorers allowing them to "Invite a Friend" to become an explorer.

For now, Price indicates that the program is "an experiment," and independent of the previous #IfIHadGlass campaign, though some explorers from that contest "may receive this email."

We've reached out for more details and will keep you updated if more information emerges. In the meantime, follow the discussion at the source link below.

Save your $1500 if you're just a user right now. Buy it if you're a developer serious about developing for Glass.

I am saying this having tried it and having been around Glass Explorers. It's not ready for prime time.

Agreed this is version 1.0 and it is a motto of mine, that's been proven time and again to wait for v2.0 and the final release of Glass should be 2.0

1.0? I wish. Glass feels more like version 0.1.

Glass is actually at hardware revision 11:

Glass prototype names in the kernel include Dog, Emu, Fly, Gnu, Hog. That's 5; add the unnamed A, B, C and that brings it up to 8.

The preprodution and production models are V1_EVT1, V1_EVT2, and V1_EVT3, so that brings the total number of hardware revisions to 11.

Those would've probably felt like Version 0.0.1 then. Or possibly Alpha 0.1 and this is Beta 0.1. Have Glass officially stated what revision they are at or is this just working it out from code/hardware codes?

Zhuowei, you're awesome. What's the explorer version called?

I'm not even sure if its justified to join in if you're a serious dev for glass. The monetization channels for Glass aren't clear yet considering they aren't allowing paid apps or ads on the platform as this time.

Oh you guys - please please please do your readership a favour and stop "reaching out" for more info. Just ask, request - heck, even petitioning would be better that "reaching out". It's so .... buzzwordy
