Here are the wallpapers from the new Nexus 7 that is now available for pre-order and was shown off in full detail yesterday. From what I can tell, there is only one really new wallpaper compared to what came with the previous Nexuses, and it's the one that the new Nexus 7 comes with selected by default. I ran it through TinEye and Google's Reverse Image Search, and it's the only one that returned no existing hits.

Update: The 2013 Nexus 7 got an OTA today, and the wallpaper we saw on the box is now included. You can download it at the bottom of this post.

And here's the second unique wallpaper:

Another wallpaper of interest to me was this one below. I've never seen it before, and reverse image search brought back results from a small number of obscure places. I checked the N4 and the previous N7 but didn't find it there, so I think that while not entirely new, it's something most of you haven't seen (Update: Previously present on the Galaxy Nexus and the XOOM, but not seen recently - thanks, Huw and Rodrigo):

Here are the thumbs for the rest of the wallpapers - as you can see, most of them should seem familiar.

The second wallpaper is an ancient 4.0 wallpaper, as seen in your previous post: http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/10/10/download-12-leaked-galaxy-nexusnexus-prime-ice-cream-sandwich-wallpapers/

So yeah, the only new one is the first one.

    • ncs

Seems to be inspired by the Mandelbrot fractal (or maybe I'm just weird and see stuff everywhere..)

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

      Good catch!

Oh well, at least if someone with a more recent device than a Galaxy Nexus likes it, they can grab it.

      • nyx

One of the updates for the Galaxy Nexus seems to have removed a lot of the wallpapers that originally shipped 4.0

Of the article that Huw linked, only "Chroma" (the "default" ICS wallpaper with vertical lines coloured rainbow), "noir" and "fidelity" still remain in my Galaxy Nexus' default wallpaper selector.

    • Matt McKee

Yeah, that's one of my favorite ICS wallpapers! I can't see why they took it out of 4.1 and 4.2, it's pretty cool!

  • Metroview

I knew you guys would come through with the blue wallpaper! Thanks!

  • anon

And where is that yellow green blue wallpaper from the promo shots and the box itself?

    • Flint_PS

Yeah, I was hoping for that one too.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Looks like that one may have been limited to the box itself :(

      • Danny Holyoake

        Nooooooooooo :((((

      • X3HaloEd

Then why did Hugo Barra have a Nexus 7 on-stage with that wallpaper?

        • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Good question. Our build wasn't the same as what Google published today, then there was an OTA this morning. I'll check back and see if the new build has this wallpaper.

Yeah, that's what we we're thinking.

    • MagnificentN

      My version xD

      Just added the official version.

I wish Google would actually get its arse back to making ORIGINAL LIVE wallpapers again. I mean it's one of the novelties of Android and the devices are getting more and more powerful so why neglect them?

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/author/cody-toombs/ Cody Toombs

Well, it's not particularly original (especially since it's just a color shift from blue to red), but there is the leaked SunBeam/Phase Beam LWP: http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/06/27/download-boot-animation-sunbeam-live-wallpaper-and-updated-camera-from-google-play-edition-devices-root-only/

I've got a feeling there will be one or two more LWPs at the end of the year when new devices and a new version launch.

I think most of us would rather save the resources required to animate a full background in the homescreen/lockscreen

      • Ryan Stewart

Thats me. I ran one for a bit for fun but eventually just settled on a high contrast black background to save juice and make it easier to see in sun. Black also makes the screen and the rest of the phone nearly indistinguishable.

        • Liam Higgins

black wallpaper won't save power unless you have an AMOLED display

          • wolfkabal

Maybe he does have an AMOLED display.. Samsungs are pretty popular you know.

          • Liam Higgins

nothing wrong with letting him know just in case

      • Adam Schmidt

I'm quite happy running live wallpaper and in fact prefer it. If you're careful to pick one that isn't really badly written, it only uses about 1-2% of battery life at most and doesn't use CPU time unless your wallpaper is visible and thus you're not doing anything CPU intensive to begin with.

        • Simon Belmont

If that. The well coded ones won't even use a fraction of a percent of battery life.

I've seen badly coded ones that kill the battery though. But they're easy to spot in the battery statistics.

Frankly I get bored with live wallpaper rather quickly.

  • gladgura

wallpaper_01.jpg & wallpaper_05.jpg is what I use for all my Android devices, even my Note II.

  • lordmerovingian

Thanks for the effort (although none of them i like).

  • Kamil RomaƄski

Wow, 6th one is ancient! I remember having it on my N1. Bummer that the blue one is nowhere to be found :<

  • Morrissex

    And this one?

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

      There now.

      • Morrissex

I thought the new wallpaper had a "paper" texture (form what I saw in the press release mockups), that's why I designed a textured one. I was wrong. u_u

  • Crispin Swickard

They did something similar with the GNex after it was introduced to the play store. (I think thats when it started) They displayed it with the below image that was similar, but not the same as the 10th one that was always the display wallpaper until they made the switch.

  • Peter

I was restless and flashed the full factory 4.3JWR66V image on to my Nexus 7. It doesn't seem to include any new wallpapers though.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

The new Nexus 7 has it, not the old one.

  • IvanBotty

So there will be an update for the other nexus with these wallpapers?

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

      I have no idea.

    • http://j.mp/scottbeamer Scott Beamer

The wallpapers ship with Android 4.3, so the answer is yes, they will.

      • IvanBotty

        Bit i have installed 4.3 on my nexus ( gnexus , nexus 4,nexus7 ) and i haven't no one :(

  • Guest

Couldn't decide which to use. So Used both. I've uploaded in a bunch of different sizes for your use too! Sizes are the naes of the files :)

  • Leonardo Baez

its me or the new nexus 7 wallpapper is too "MS Windows"??

    • http://j.mp/scottbeamer Scott Beamer

Nope, not at all. Those are Google colors.

  • Niels

I've always had it on my TF300T

  • sath

Amazing. Thanks. I have been looking for this for ages.
