Yesterday, @evleaks scored several press images of the new Nexus 7, which is expected to be revealed by Google on July 24th. Not even a day later, we now have an exclusive gallery of more recent press shots that not only offer several more angles, but also showcase what I believe is the new default Android 4.3 Nexus wallpaper which replaces the Android 4.2 wallpaper seen in the previous pictures.

wm_0005

The dual cameras (1.2MP + 5MP) are clearly visible, along with a notification LED, the "4:30" time which points to, naturally, Android 4.3, the oddly perpendicular for a 7" tablet word "nexus" on the back, stereo speakers mounted on the back (sorry, HTC One fans), and the manufacturer, which once again happens to be ASUS (sorry, Sony fans). There isn't much else to say that hasn't been said before.

The 16GB Wi-Fi variant of the new SlimPort-enabled 1.5GHz quad-core Nexus 7 with a 1920x1200 display is expected to retail for $229 while the 32GB one will sell for $269. There's no word yet on the LTE version, though based on the rumblings among tipsters, one should be coming at some point.

And now, the full gallery:

Ill pass on this one. No flash on the rear camera, no front mounted speakers. When will hardware manufacturers realize that the person is in front of the device so the speakers need to face FORWARD. I'm so tired of cupping my hand on the back so I can hear the sound.

    • chris125

It's a tablet, it's not meant to take pictures hence why no flash

      • Spazmonic

Why do people say that all the time? I mean, I don't take pix with a tablet, but it is nice to have the option.

        • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

They're trying to keep the costs down, and this is something that can save some money in manufacturing. If it's something deemed unnecessary, it gets the boot.

          • Phil Oakley

Tbh I'd rather they scrapped the rear camera and spent the money on something else, like a 64GB version or something. A camera on a tablet is just unnecessary.

        • chris125

Because for what it's intended for the camera will be fine. It isn't meant to take pics in the dark for one. This is more for those who complained about not being able to have a camera to scan labels, etc

          • David Allen

I guess its just too much to ask for an all in one 7" device that can take pictures with a flash and makes phone calls with front facing speakers. I guess I'm the only person in the world that would want such a device. That way I don't have to carry around 2 or 3 different devices.

          • lolmensch

there are such devices but not for 230 bucks.

          • asrat_24

That's an overused excuse by many people, certain compromises had to be made, its poor form for a grown man to be whining when he doesn't get what he wants

          • qu4ttro

            Yup. I guess you are.

          • Steve Freeman

Unless if you're going to rely on being in Wi-Fi areas ALL the time, you'll need 2 devices anyway.

          • Spazmonic

Idk. I just don't mind a camera on the rear. I don't care to have it is my photo shooter of choice, but to have the option is just nice in my opinion. Definitely wouldn't take vacation photos with it. Then I would actually have to go on vacation but you get the point.

      • http://www.thedan1984.com/ Dan

It's not meant to take pictures? Why does it have a camera then?

Yes, it's not going to take amazing pictures, but it's still able to take pictures. A flash would be wise.

        • chris125

You know to scan documents/bar codes?

          • hp420

you know a flash comes in handy when scanning documents?

      • hp420

then why does it have not one, but two cameras?? So you can brag that they are there even though you don't use them?? Don't be ridiculous!!

    • Theromz

Nexus 10 has it (Front facing speakers), and it was a great feature, no idea why they didn't continue it to the Nexus 7 this time around :S.

    • theillien

That's OK, General consensus is that people who take pictures with tables look like tools anyway.

      • SickoPsycho

well said, sir. Even though I'm guessing your autocorrect inserted "tables" rather than "tablets" - I like the autocorrect suggestion better in this circumstance. well said.

      • saltyzip

Totally agree. I have to believe people who buy iPads are not educated enough to realise how crap the cameras are to record significant life events. I can only think Apple iPad users just want to show off their gadgets over the convenience of using a smaller and more powerful and dedicated camera device. Take the Olympics in London where there were athletes with iPads (5MP Camera) recording the crowd etc. as they walked around the stadium during the opening ceremony. Why would you use such a device to record such a key moment of ones life, other than in attempt to show off. At my kids Gym and School Sportsday competitions there are loads of Mums trying to use iPads to record and take photos. Half the time they can't even see the screen due to the reflection of the Sun and you see them bumbling around trying to work out if the device is recording or not. They also block out the view for people who are sitting behind them. We need to start a #tag to try and put an end to this tablet usage annoyance.

      • Bleakvision

1998 called, they said the general consensus is that people who talk on mobile phones look like tools anyway.

  • Thomas

Any word on LTE/WiFi band/standard support yet?

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

      Literally in the post.

      • mechapathy

Sooooooo any word yet? How about now? Now?

      • Thomas

Not verbosely so, which is why i asked, but i'll take that as a no then.

        • Steve Freeman

When they hear something I'm sure there'll be another article.

  • HellG

I'm not a fan of these colorish wallpapers, john ive can take it back,i always loved the stock wallpapers since ICS for their simple beauty, i dont know maybe i'm just over thinking this...

    • http://blog.jalcine.me/ Jacky Alcine

You're shitting yourself. There's no ridiculous gradients, it looks like the Play store logo.

    • aNYthing6

      It's a wallpaper. Who cares?

      • CamWiseOwl

Why have a wallpaper at all?

        • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

          Why not?

          • SickoPsycho

Why ask why? Try Bud Dry.

          • CamWiseOwl

I was joking, guessing nobody detected my sarcasm there..
aNYthing6 said who cares, if nobody cared then wallpaper wouldn't need setting.

I personally have a minimalistic geometric wallpaper that blends with my minimal white icons, it's purdy.

          • MindFever

            Why yes?

      • HellG

It's just my personal opinion :)

    • CamWiseOwl

I agree, it is a pretty nasty, garish wallpaper

    • theillien

One of the wonderful things that appeals Android to people is the ability to customize. Choice is such a wonderful thing, isn't it?

    • Steve Freeman

That's why you have the ability to change the wallpaper. So stop complaining.

  • disqus_is_good

The biggest issue for me with this design is hands will cover the speakers when holding it in landscape mode.

Why didn't they put speakers on front when it has so much bezel at the top and bottom?

    • Aleem Qureshi

And why only mono... where are the Stereo Speakers? IMO would make a massive improvement for overall user experience, granted there has yet to be anything said about the quality and power of the speaker(s) in the new N7

      • Marc R.

Have you even read the article?

"the oddly perpendicular for a 7" tablet word "nexus" on the back, stereo speakers mounted on the back (sorry, HTC One fans),"

        There ARE stereo speakers...

        • Aleem Qureshi

I seemed to have glazed over that looking at the picture, I could only see the single larger speaker grill on the side nearest the camera. Sorry for any grief i may have caused you.
          - Cheers

          • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

You see both of them now though?

          • Aleem Qureshi

Yea, the one next to the speaker and two rather small ones next to the Micro USB port. I had to zoom in and look really hard. At a cursory glance its unnoticeable in the the screen shots.

      • qu4ttro

        Reading. You fail it.

  • http://blog.jalcine.me/ Jacky Alcine

I'm hoping that they'd switch their minds last minute about the SD slot thing.

    • https://plus.google.com/u/0/108482452903817442299/posts Andrew Bone

no no SD for nexus devices, and I'm fine with that (they really want people to store things on their servers)

      • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

I wouldn't mind paying another $50 for the 64GB variant. That would satisfy most.

        • Steve Freeman

Ditto. But then again, my 16GB N7 has been OK for me for travelling, I've just gotten used to also bringing my laptop with and keeping it filled with any extra movies/TV series/etc I may want to watch.

      • http://blog.jalcine.me/ Jacky Alcine

I have no problem with(out), I got my stuff synced on Dropbox and Google Drive and as well as my music; but I'd like movies and some files offline.

        • https://plus.google.com/u/0/108482452903817442299/posts Andrew Bone

yeah, I understand. For me tablets are always on my wifi so keeping things online is always fine.

    • disqus_is_good

I don't mind about SD cards as long as these nexus devices start at very low prices and extra storage does not cost $100 like iDevices.

  • gladgura

This Wallpaper reminds me of the Windows Flag.

    • MindFever

Lmao yeah I thought the same thing ... And the front camera offset is a bit ridiculous IMO

  • Alex Flynn

there are conflicting reports of a 1920x1200 display... you mention 1080... can AP clarify?

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

      Yeah, you're right. It's 1200. 1080p is just a habit.

      • Andrew

        So it's still 16:10, not 16:9. Wonderfull

  • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Btw, the Android Police logo ships together with the Nexus. True story.

    • disqus_is_good

      Church of Android.

    • sourabh

Well, i will not mind if my new nexus 7 aslo has the logo of my favourite android blog. :-)

    • David

yeah why did you have to go and do that? hrmphh!

    • Ror

I love how the logo automagically changes with the orientation you hold the tablet in. Very cutting-edge design here.

    • IHATEHIPSTERSSS

Still going to have a weaker gpu than the iPad mini. Sad really...

  • Eygo

Will this tablet be thinner than the original nexus 7?

    • disqus_is_good

      Yes.

      • Eygo

Fantastic, the original was just a little to chunky for my liking, im not sold on the odd front facing camera position though?

  • Alex Vainshtein

Any information about the processor, Snapdragon S4 Pro or Snapdragon 600?

    • MindFever

S4 Pro if I remember correctly ...it is a fine CPU ,just ask my Nexus 4 :)

  • Andrew

I cannot decide do I like these bezels or not.

  • oktnxbai

    Love that wallpaper!

  • theillien

Once the LTE version is released I'll be passing my current N7 to my wife and picking up a new one.

  • Dan

Anyone else dislike the front facing camera not being centred?

    • Amer Khaznadar

That's probably to keep it usable in both landscape and portrait.

      • MindFever

I think you are right but it is ridiculous...I can use the camera in landscape for video chat on my current N7 without problems. The offset will however create problems when using the device in portrait. You will have to shift it a bit...the N10 has this for no reason and it wasnt nice

    • Morrissex

I am a bit OCD too, so...

  • GryphKid44

    Holy bezel, Batman.

  • Qbancelli

Can we have more bezel? Please!

Seriously, it is LTE or bust for me.

  • Erstam

Wonder if this will have 5gz Wi-Fi band? Makes a world of difference where I live.

    • MindFever

I bet it does...since the Nexus 4 has this,I think the new Nexus 7² will have as well

      • someone755

Whoah, the Nexus 49? We should totally call it that! :D

        • MindFever

          LOL...you know what i meant ;)

          • someone755

I know, but just think about it. THE Nexus. FORTY NINE. Apple and Samsung wouldn't know what hit them.

    • saltyzip

I'd be very surprised if it didn't, should support 802.11ac too.

  • Marc R.

There's no word yet on the LTE version, though based on the rumblings among tipsters, one should be coming at some point."

On that "wm_0006" picture, what is that tray you can see on the top left of the Nexus 7? Looks like a SIM card tray for me...

I don't see pogo pins, the dock sold with old N7 will not be usable with the new one?

    • Marc R.

Even with pogo pins, the new Nexus 7 wouldn't fit into the dock as it is bigger than the "old" one...

  • Dave

    Well I'm excited.

  • Jim

I can't WAIT to blow off a chunk off my paycheck on this. I'm sad it doesn't seem to have the PERFECT rubberized back of the original N7 though, it was so nice to hold.

  • Daniel Wiggins

did anyone notice the launcher is responding like a phone and not a tablet? The dock stays on the screen where it is at, and doesn't stay on bottom. (or is this a 7" thing, and i wouldn't know becuase i only use 10" tablets.)

It's mostly same but a little bit different. But salute to you that you made this in such a short time :)

          • Petr Tajovsky

The size is wrong. The announced resolution is 1900x1200 and the picture is 1200x1080.

Yes, it's not the same shown above. This one has black lines separating colors from each other (the original does not). Also, shadows are slightly different.

        • AnthonyRyan89

oh well i still like it and have it on my N4 & N7

      Remake of the original

      • http://us.playstation.com/ps4 Mark Cerny

Wallpapers are square -_- specifically for Android/Nexus devices.

        Why are they rectangles?

        • Rabidd

Because I tend to set mine as portrait mode only, and it was based off of the stock images that we see in the images of the device.

Here's a redo if you want a square wallpaper for it.

  • sivkai

Can anyone explain why the bezel is so enormously/hideously large? I hear it's because this tablet is encouraged to be used in landscape mode but even still, this large?! If you add both bezels together, you could probably create another tablet!

    • Daniel DS

They're bigger than the first generation too... I don't know why either

    • someone755

I like the ones on the Tegra Grouper. Makes operating comfy :3
But THIS BIG? What the heck, Google? Maybe, the Nexus 7.3 will have bezels so big that you can pull them off and assemble them into a full-sized Nexus phone!

    • Tommy Thompson

They are bigger for one hand holding. Mathias pointed that out last year.

      • someone755

Making it wider in landscape mode only makes it harder to hold. Check your torque knowledge. I would like it if they made it wider in portrait, reading books and having no palm rejection is killing me...

        • Tommy Thompson

You aren't understanding. Watch the video. http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/29/3126587/matias-duarte-on-the-nexus-7-and-jelly-bean About 9 minutes in Mathias discusses why they made the top and bottom bezels larger.

          • someone755

This is from June 29, 2012. How does this help the comparison between Grouper and the new leak?
Any no matter what you post here, I know from experience, that longer is harder to hold.
Yes, I do like the idea of big bezels, but it's harder to hold. Especially considering the fact that the back isn't as rubbery as it was on the 'old' 7.

          • Tommy Thompson

Because both devices are using the same design language, so it definitely helps with understanding why the top and bottom bezels are larger than the sides.

        • marcusmaximus04

The torque increase here is tiny compared to the increase in surface area of your thumb touching it and resisting the torsion.

          • someone755

Doesn't matter what you say. Longer = harder to hold. Always was, always will be. Unless I can hold it with my entire hand, that is. And the bezel would then really be wide. And my hands are small. That tells you something.
Too much bezel = not good for gaming. Or anything else, actually. I wouldn't go any further than what the current 7 offers, no matter the specs.

        • Magnesus

The bezel is ridiculous. I've had devices almost without bezel and they were easy to hold. The bigger the bezel the more problematic the holding gets (because the whole device is bigger).

          • someone755

Depends on preference, really. Some like it, some don't. And some hate it xD

    • Jeremy Smith

I've often wished my nexus 7 had a large bottom bezel

  • Ezzy

Why can't they still get their act together and put all the versions out at the same time...Just like what all other manufacturers do with colors as well. Have the common courtesy to even say that there are different colors and/or versions in the pipeline. Meh. Me gusta an update though.
Not that we'll be getting it any time soon or for an especially low price or even directly from Play Store. The old N7 with 3G is still $400 here and N10 is $650. Seems to take ages for them to set up shop.

    • someone755

Because more people use the WiFi-only version, maybe?

      • Dan Strong

It's OK.. Ezzy is obviously a much more successful E-Retailer than Google and has already solved this problem himself.

        • Ror

To be fair, most people are more successful at online retail than Google.

how i hate this stupid onscreen-buttons. space wasting thing.

especially when i look at the screenshots here with n7 in landscape mode. it's not that 7" is that big and you lose a lot of the screen for only three little buttons which are also bad to reach down there in landscape mode, instead of keeping soft-touch keys at the right big beziel.

the worst idea google ever had: onscreen softkeys.

    • someone755

I'd say they're great, as they provide LOTS of customizing. Changing icons, tablet UI, PIE (omnomnomnomnom :P).
That's why it's a Nexus. Fastboot oem unlock as fast as you get home, then Paranoid Android :P I would have bought a Samsung tablet if it wasn't for the awesome onscreen button design.
But I agree about landscape. It looks and works great on a 10-incher but not nearly as good on smaller devices.

    • ElfirBFG

If it wasn't for those, it would have only been 1920*1080, and then you would have whined about the ppi only being 315. ;P

Although, I have become partial to the slim, clicky buttons on my Aquos. I don't think I ever want to go back to capacitive buttons, but I could do on-screens.

I prefer to ONLY buy devices with onscreen softkeys. More versatile, can change with the OS, enable features like swipe-up for Now from anywhere, allow for a cleaner appearance, can be accessed via mouse, change orientation with the display, and more.

To each their own, but it's hardly one of their worst ideas. I think it was one of their best.

  • Maani

Here's my attempt at the wallpaper. Check my other work at http://www.maaniyousofi.com :)

    • http://www.Nave360.com Sebastian Gorgon

Not bad, though the wallpaper has a gradient of orange on the right, and purple is actually red and pink.

      • Maani

Yeh, you're totally right. I didn't manage to get the colour gradient to work :

  • Concept

Looks like it's not going to work with the original Nexus 7 dock. I guess I have a really expensive alarm clock once I get the new Nexus 7. I paid $150 for the sony dash a few years ago so I guess $200 for the original Nexus 7 as an alarm clock isn't bad.

  • mike dunham

So are all Nexus 7 models mobile data ready or have they said if there will be separate versions like the first model?

    • someone755

We know what the article says. The article doesn't say it, so we don't know. :P
I'd like a separate WiFi-only version, tho. I don't like the idea of a SIM card inside my tablet.

      • http://turbofool.com Jarrett Lennon Kaufman

Why not? Why not just not put a SIM in there if you don't need it?

  • someone755

And I'm just sitting here and waiting for 4.3 to roll out for my Grouper...

  • Miroslav Gajan

    Little better version

  • heat361

Morgan Freezeman? I mistook that for Morgan Freeman lol

    • someone755

Reading your comment, I realized something. I should re-read this article with Freeman's voice. AWESOMNESS. But upgraded. :P

  • Steve Freeman

When are they going to take my money? I heard a rumor it may be available as early as 7/31?

    • VAVA Mk2

I keep throwing cash at my monitor and nothing happens. I am getting worried.

      • Steve Freeman

Me too. Maybe I should stop throwing quarters though...I may damage my monitor.

  • miri

Anyone else notice that the UI is scaled notably smaller? I wonder if it'll be part of the 4.3 update for the current Nexus 7.

    • Kie

My guess is that it's due to the higher resolution screen

  • simp1istic

I really really wish the status bar stayed on the right side in landscape, as it is it's almost useless in landscape.

  • Nathaniel Webb

    Here's the wallpaper in 1920x1200. http://imgur.com/zMZnOfg

    *source Photoshop.*

  • Brendan Owens

I think I'll pas on this gen and just get the unlocked Moto X, as I already have the original Nexus 7 running quite well. From what I've heard 4.3 adds some performance to all devices, so I'm content with just that.

  • Brandon Williamson

what is the screen ppi on this ??

    • ElfirBFG

      ~323ppi if it's exactly 7" diagonally.

  • Thomas Gladdines

I really had to laugh at a lot of attempts on this wallpaper :P

    Here's mine: http://seapip.com/mirrors/nexus7newwallpaper.png

      get a life son

    • CasperTFG

Thanks. Great version. Looks nice on the Gnex.

  • CuriousCursor

Interesting...Chrome colours on the wallpaper or maybe I'm just reading into it and they're Google colours.

    • http://turbofool.com Jarrett Lennon Kaufman

Chrome colors and Google colors are one and the same, really.

  • Morrissex

A better version of the wallpaper (and yes, made by me) available on my deviantArt profile:

    Resolution: 1920x1200
    Link: http://fav.me/d6elekf

    • Morrissex

When scaling it down to make this preview it lose the smooth edges, but the full-resolution one looks fine.

  • Zammi

Hope they do not use the cheap memory modules and battery as original N7. Battery takes ages to charge and device lags a lot.

  • AnthonyRyan89

i'm loving that new wallpaper, i wonder if it's available somewhere yet ?

  • Jonathan

Doesn't the presence of the SIM card slot suggest that the LTE version will drop at the same time?

  • Sebastiano

Is it just my imagination or you can see the SIM slot cover on these images as well? Seems pretty clear to me in the landscape-from-back-side shot.

  • fl

Could be also the (covered)Slim Port

    • http://turbofool.com Jarrett Lennon Kaufman

I'm pretty sure the SlimPort uses the USB port, like MHL, so no.

  • Oobiewan

sorry HTC one fans? sorry everybody who ever wishes to use the speakers...

    • someone755

Well I like the way the current 7's speakers are. Just put a hand behind and channel the sound directly to you.

      • Oobiewan

right, i could even sing instead of using the speakers... Using my hand to channel the sound is not an option I can go with...

  • PhineasJW

I guess it's open to interpretation -- I would say those speakers are on the BOTTOM.

    • http://turbofool.com Jarrett Lennon Kaufman

No, they're mounted on the BACK. One on each side if you're holding in landscape, one at the top and one at the bottom in portrait. But either way, they're on the back.

      • PhineasJW

Well, first the back is the back. These speakers are not mounted on the flat part of the back, but rather on the curved portion at the extremes -- which is halfway between the back and the edge.

        But that aside.

I see one speaker on the top, and TWO on either side of the USB connector on the bottom.

        So, are there three speakers?

        • http://turbofool.com Jarrett Lennon Kaufman

They're not facing the front, nor are they visible from the front, nor are they truly facing the sides. Back seems like the easiest, closest to accurate description available. Bottom is least, as they exist in two opposite locations, and the tablet's design seems to have been refocused for landscape use, making "sides" the closest we could come to a middle ground between your description and the article's.

And I think it's more likely that the bottom/right speaker sits in a sound chamber that's merely split by the charger port. I doubt it's two separate speakers in that area.

  • Wiggie

Here's my attempt at recreating the wallpaper.

  • Xzigraz

Bottom, middle image, left side, isn't that a sim card slot? So LTE version is not a rumor after all.

    • someone755

Could still be. If I ever get the chance to design a tablet, I'll put 3 SIM slots there, but only 2G. Just to prove you that 4G isn't just something that comes with a SIM slot.

  • Ryan G

Here's my representation of the new Nexus 7 wallpaper, done by me in MS Paint.

    • someone755

PAINT FTW! IMO, this is the best one. No Photoshop or any other paid sh*t, just good ol' classic Paint.

    • maxx1987

      love it

    • Ror

Love the attention to details! Here's one I did in MacPaint.

  • demaax

If you actually look close to the N7 in portrait / landscape mode, you see that the wallpaper is different - the ''pink'' part is in landscape much smaller than in portrait.

  • Alex

Jeez guys, stop complaining about the bezel over and over. Just say it once and leave it alone. If you don't want it, then don't get it. But, I know that you're going to get it anyway ;)

Pretty sure I know where I'm camping next Monday night!

    • Grimmjow

      where?

      • Alex

        BestBuy of course!

  • Jorge Ivan Sanchez Gonzalez

Lock at the hour man! it's 4:30

  • Typongtv

So, I've put the first generation N7 next to the newer one for measurments purpose and bezel comparison. 2012 model to the left & 2013 one to the right. #Nexus7 sevond generation seems to bring a slimmer profile width wise.
PS: This is based on leaked press images.....so I might be wrong.

    • Ror

Great work, this makes a lot more sense.
It just looks stretched out since the side bezels are thinner and not a proportional as the old ones were.

  • Adam Schadt

Lol but im still buying it

  • Mitalis

Anybody else besides me let down that they partnered again with ASUS? After seeing the results with the 1st Nexus 7, I can't help but feel worried that this device is going to suffer from the same issues as the original... Remember how it went from the best to the worst b/c of how badly it lagged?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=708741524 Robb Nunya

With the Google Search bar on top, the wallpaper invokes a 7

  • Bleakvision

Now let the next retail fiasco ensue:)

    • Thomas

And the next apologetic article from AP :)

Maybe they're trying to make sure that the demand will be towards the brick & mortar retail stores, unless they intend on selling the N7v2 starting on wednesday :P

  • Idon’t Know

That old wallpaper looked like ass.
Also 7 inches is too small for me.

    Thats what she said.

  • tekmonkey

Is that an SD card slot in the bottom, middle pic?

    • Thomas

      SIM slot

    • miri

A comparison was made in the last article (which lined them up by the screens and not the bezel.) The new one's a tad taller, but narrower.

  • Guest

If you have noticed, the wallpaper sort of resembles the intersecting colors of the Play Store logo.

  • brutalpanther

I'm still waiting to see which quad chip.I figure it to be the tegra 4.Although the snapdragon 800 is the real beast.

  • Taylor LaBrier

All the bezel one could ever want and more!

  • Trysta

I know people are tired of hearing about the bezel but I haven't seen anyone mention this yet in all the forums I've browsed thus far.

Won't the larger bezels make it harder to play games in landscape mode? I really like the small tablet form factor for playing games but even with the current nexus 7 my thumbs have a hard time reaching the whole screen when I'm holding it in landscape (which isn't a huge deal most of the time but sometimes you need to tap something close to the middle of the screen).

I can only imagine that these larger bezels will make it even harder to reach all screen elements when playing games in landscape. So really the large bezels are only good for holding the tablet to watch movies and it isn't like that was much of an issue before...

    (average sized woman hands btw)

  • william

Are those SD slots on the side? or some sort of docking system

    • ryanyomomma

Some say yes. Others were saying that it's a SIM card slot and that they're releasing a cell-ready version from the gate...

      I want to believe!

    • miri

It's a SIM slot. You can tell by the pin. Nexus devices will never have SD slots.

    • Tsais

Sadly, no SD Card slot there = no sale for Google

  • Tsais

Google doesn't put SD Card slots on Nexus devices anymore, as they want to force us into their cloud! But having to be online and wait for the stuff that I have on my SD card collection is inconvenient, annoyingly slow and not always accessible, especially when traveling.

More sales for Samsung, who always puts SD Card slots without fail.

Google, don't become like Microcruft, trying to force users willy nilly into your corporate strategy, you can see how it backfires eventually...

  • brian swan

Wow holly bezel!!!! This thing should be named nexus bezel. No need for calling it 7.2

  • Kris Pucci

I cannot believe this version does not have the pogo pins which basically makes my dock (that I waited months for) a paperweight.
