We must be achingly close to a new 7-inch slate from Google with all the Nexus 7 sales going on. This time the already low price over at Staples is getting even lower with the application of a $30 coupon code. This is a solid deal, even for last year's model.

n7 deal

The 16GB Nexus 7 is going for $179 at Staples, but the coupon code (20098) knocks $30 off the price. The 32GB starts at $199, but using the same code takes it down to $169. Note, you can only use this code once per order, even if you're buying a 16GB and a 32GB at the same time.

Buying the Nexus 7 from the Staples website includes free ground shipping, or the option of free pickup in select stores. Maybe the New Nexus 7 is right around the corner, but it's going to cost a lot more that $150.

Still a great piece of hardware.

US only. Tried it on the Staples.ca website and the coupon code was not valid.

That's a really good deal. I got my 32GB N7 back in November 2012 for about $189 after discounts from RadioShack.

Which, in itself, was a stellar deal back then (8+ months ago). This being $20 less than that is sweet.

Meh I'd avoid it. Nexus 7-2 is probably a few weeks away, judging by deals, the one year life cycle, and rumors. Obviously the odds aren't 100%, but I'd say we can reasonably expect another one soon. Regardless of whether users will feel the new Nexus 7 will be worth it, old Nexus 7 prices are gonna drop like a brick everywhere. This will probably seem expensive for the Nexus 7 in 2-3 weeks.

If it were January or February, I'd say go for it. In July...meh.

Oh. I wasn't going to buy one.

I just meant it was a good deal for someone looking for a good tablet on the cheap. That's all.

Yeah, I'm just arguing that that same hypothetical person should perhaps wait a few weeks to see what comes down the pike, or he/she'll be kicking him/herself soon:P

And I totally agree with you on that notion. The next N7 is hopefully JUST around the corner.

Like, literally, next week maybe? Hopefully, by the end of the month at the very least.
