If you're a fan of the new slide-out menu that has slowly been making its way into all of Google's official apps and also like to watch movies/TV shows, today's your lucky day! Play Movies just got a sizeable update that not only brings said menu, but also a sleeker look and a couple of new features:

New layout and visual design.
Watch Now provides quick access to what you’re likely to watch next.
Personal videos now available via overflow menu.

Aside from the updated interface, the newest iteration of the app also brings a new feature called Watch Now that aims to predict what you're going to watch next and provide quick access to those titles. Otherwise, the Personal Videos entry is now available in the overflow menu instead of the primary interface, so don't freak out when you don't see it.

The update is rolling out through the Play Store now.

Update: Here's the APK of Google Movies v2.5.22 you can download and install manually. Yup, it breaks Nexus Q support (a moment of silence, please). Thanks, fireb33!

Not available for France, please give the apk ;)

    • yodatom10

Even if you had the apk it wouldn't do you any good in France

Hi ! We are always with the old design...

Simple US VPN solves all "location" problems when anything Google involved.

I would recommend Proxy but I doubt Playstore would support that whatsoever.

Let me guess... this will also be the end of the Nexus Q support?

Curious to know this as well.
Been running CyanogenMod 10.1 on my Nexus Q but sadly its a bit buggy, using external USB drives basically causes /data to unmount and a host of problems ensue.

You should add in the article though that, just like the new Play Music, Nexus Q functionality has ceased in the new update.

I think something is wrong with this update lol poor poor us gingerbread saps

  • mrjayviper

was gonna ditch mx player pro for this app but seems the new update won't let me easily watch my own rips.

I rolled back to the previous update. I prefer the 3 pane layout in which the personal videos are two swipes to the right. I feel like Google was trying to make the Movies app fit to the new GApps design instead of the other way around.
