For a long time, the HTC One S was one of the most compelling phones on T-Mobile. That really tells you something about the lineup America's smallest national carrier was working with last year. There are plenty of these devices walking around, so today's update will be good news for many. That battery life problem introduced in Jelly Bean should be taken care of finally.

update

The update will come via an OTA, which begins rolling out today. If you don't want to wait, hitting the update button in settings should actually do something for once. The new software version can also be installed over USB if need be. The only relevant improvement is the battery life fix – it's still based on Android 4.1.1.

To receive this update, you'll need at least 50% battery, an unrooted phone, and a current software version of 3.14.531.11 710RD.

Wow that's a long firmware name. couldn't name this update 3.14.53.20? or 3.14.54? does it really need to be longer than a phone number? lol

So far, battery life seems to be back where it was before.

Could you let us know if all is well with the update? I have yet to download it because of something I read about the camera not working as good and Flash being removed along with the battery drain problem. Are you pleased with the changes and new features?

I updated mine and it wiped my data...not exactly pleased about that. ._. I guess it is a good thing I place all my trust and faith in my benevolent Google overlords! :D

Wow, that took a while to come out. Pretty much the day after the JB update came out, battery life on the HTC One S dropped considerably. It appears the cause was WiFi Calling.

When can I manually download it from my phone

I wish the update also fixed the rebooting problem (my phone reboots every couple of days and sometimes twice a day). Usually after turning on 4G. Most of the time 4G is off (using APNDroid). Many users have the same problem with random rebooting (from Google search).

Does anyone have some feedback about this latest update? I'm still running ICS and would like to update to take advantage of some of the new features but I'm on the fence based on some bugs I've read about. The worst being the battery drain but also some say the camera not working as good and flash no longer working.
