Google officially announced the not-so-secretly-kept Play Games this morning, which brings game sync, leaderboards, achievements, and more to Android. Naturally, the first question on many users' minds is do any games already support it? In fact, several developers have already updated their games to add this new feature. Here's a look at what we've found so far:

There you go – that list should get you started with seeing what Google Play Games is all about and how it's integrated. Have fun!

No World of Goo? They used it in the presentation..

  • Alessandro

    And World of Goo.

    • Guest

      and Osmos

      Edit: I'm an idiot.

  • http://twitter.com/GiuntaRob Roberto Giunta

Super Stickman 2 Golf supports it, too!

    • Stephen Blake

I was happy for this, hoping I'd be able to sync up my tablet and computer... didn't work.

      • Sinistar83

Yeah I've emailed their support on this already but I think they just use G+ for the achievements and the Race Mode multiplayer,

    • ginobili

      Nice, that game is great.

    • MasterMuffin

      And Gravity Guy

    • Paul Hutchinson

It's awesome, LIVE play with strangers and turn based with friends. Can't go wrong.

  • http://www.theultralinx.com/ Will Kennerley

    You missed World of Goo!

    • Jason Banich

      Edit: nvm

    • Matt McCoy

I cant download it :/ It gets stuck at 76%

  • Aditya Gulia

"Supe Stick Golf 2" also supports it nicely!

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

  • impure

Triple town and Chip chain support it I think.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

    • Iván Estévez

Tripletown no longer (for now). The game just crashed when you launched it, so they go back to the last version

    • Nicholas Loomans

I hope Triple goes in for the sync-across-platforms. I play on G+ and it would be nice to push a few trees around when not next to the computer or check friends' high scores.

The more new APIs that Google sticks in their Play app store, the more neat features Androids stuck with only Amazon's App Store are missing.

    • http://twitter.com/ToysSamurai Toys Samurai

If history repeats itself, it won't happen -- keep in mind that Amazon actually released its own "Game Center" api earlier than Google did. Assuming the developers actually care about the Kindle ecosystem, games you bought from Amazon will probably use Amazon's api instead. What's not clear is whether Google's API will be useable in a Kindle or not (technically I think Google can make it happen, after all they can make it happen on the iOS.) Or, the other way around, whether a game using the Amazon API would work in an Android device (again, I see no reason why Amazon wouldn't want to do it.)

    Added, thanks.

  • Don Gemus

I have Osmos HD on my N7 and N4 at two different stages of complete. I wonder what is going to happen?

    • Iván Estévez

If i were you, i'd sync the more advanced and wipe the data on the other

  • Iván Estévez

I had in mind a different Play Games, not this. Also, no web integration?

idk, it just seems poor :S

  • Steve

is there a seperate app for play games where all my achievments and stuff is listed?

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

      Not right now.

      • Steve

hm. did they say anything about that?

        • http://www.facebook.com/seangt Sean Thomas

nope. seems weird. I got all these achievements in Mega Run and I had nowhere to view them outside of finding the "Achievements" button in a menu within the game. Hopefully we don't have to wait a whole year for this to ramp up to a full suite of cross-platform apps.

    • Iván Estévez

      Nope. That's what i'm missing :(

    Any of these free?

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Click and find out. A lot are.

  • siibel

How to install google play game? its not standalone app?

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

No, not right now. It's a set of APIs for developers.

      • Ryan Andes

Seriously hoping for a front end soon though. The API features are huge, but casuals won't really notice without a hub. I'd be even happier if it would aggregate with all installed games as well

    • Iván Estévez

      It's through play services

  • acer1096xxx

    Add Mega Run. :)

    • http://www.facebook.com/seangt Sean Thomas

      was gonna say this!

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

      Got it.

Farm Invasion USA link is directed to Save the Puppies game

  • guyfromtrinidad

    plague inc does too

  • Jake

    Plague inc, too!

  • http://profiles.google.com/marcusleejh Marcus Lee

Anyone knows what has changed with Modern Combat 4 exactly?

I don't see a Google / G+ login button anywhere, despite the app description saying support had been added for it.

    • Ryan Andes

Trophy / Achievement support - Check the "What's New" section on the web Play Store page

      • http://profiles.google.com/marcusleejh Marcus Lee

Hmm... it says the exact same thing as it does in the Android Google Play app:

Added game services and Google+ support.

In any case, I can't find an option to view trophies / achievements either. Maybe it's because I've never signed in to Gameloft Live, but I thought that's what the G+ integration was supposed to replace and/or replicate. However there's definitely no G+ login option here like in my other apps (World of Goo, Beach Buggy Blitz, Riptide GP, Osmos, Wind-up Knight).

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=506195779 Bryan Pizzuti

Squaresoft needs to adapt this to their RPGs....

  • Scott Cree

GRave Defense HD also supports it

I you look at the About section of your Google + profile, it lists the games you have linked to the Play service at the bottom, under Apps.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

      Thank you, sir.

  • http://twitter.com/sweenish Adam Sweeney

For those wondering, HIB games will support this just fine. World of Goo updated today for bundle owners with support. Eufloria and Osmos have not yet updated.

    • Russell Walker

I was wondering whether Humble Bundle games would work or not, thanks!

    • Trenton Seagoe

I can confirm this is working!

    • Chris Laudermilk

Osmos HD has updated for me.

      • http://twitter.com/shamus_carter james kendall

Osmos mobile from HB has not updated for me yet but I did get my WOG update.

    • Matthew Fry

Yay! I was actually quite worried.

  • http://twitter.com/alxalejandro393 Alex Esparza-Sandy

Just read on Twitter Plague Inc. has updated for Play Games.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

      Got it, thanks.

  • Pablo Nocetti

Kingdom Rush should be in that list also ;-)

  • Bradley Ruiz

only supports achievements not cloud saves :-(

  • http://mwinter.in/ Yan Gabriel Minário

What about Humble Bundle Eufloria? Will it work with Google Play Games too?

    • ginobili

Humble Bundle app send updates notification, when you get it, you'll get the new version.

  • QwietStorm

I think it's lame that this feature is finally included, but it's on a game to game basis, instead of just pulling your data to a universal folder. As it stands, how are you to know whether this game works or that game works or is this one reliable, etc.

Did regular app data sync become a reality as well? And does it rely on the same setup?

    • http://twitter.com/hiromasaki Chad Vincent

Even if it "just pulled your data to a universal folder", it would be up to each game to be putting the data in a proper location anyway. Some games put save data on disk/SD Card, some in the SQLite database, and some in custom cloud locations.

Any kind of sync would require the developer to support it in how they write their app.

      • QwietStorm

Oh I didn't know the data was in different locations. That complicates things. I was thinking Google just came up with a solution to take all the app data on your device and sync it to your account, which would be best case scenario.

  • ginobili

This is a huge step. I find amazing that i can send an invitation for a game just like in Xbox Live. I'm waiting for the Google Play Games. Of course this is growing, but i thing i missed is that i get the full contact list when i invite someone to play, maybe they don't even have the game.

    • ginobili

Also checkout Google+ there's already information about the sync games (not a lot, though).

  • valapsp

    nfs mw :(

  • Michael Lee

I'm really hoping they make a Play Games Hub where you see all your games at once, and are able to expand it and see the achievements of said game, rather than going into the app manually. It'd make showing off scores, etc. SO much more efficient.

    • stevee

yes. didnt have androidpolie a play games app?

      • Damon

I think you accidentally a word

    • http://www.theultralinx.com/ Will Kennerley

I'm thinking when Google+ games gets killed off at the end of June, the Games app will be a tab on the Google+ app which can be accessed by it's own shortcut in the app tray or in app like Google+ Messenger is currently

  • http://twitter.com/itremgeorgi Michał George

I want cloud save games some of that games have cloud save game ? :D And is there some app that I could see my all achievements ?

  • https://plus.google.com/u/0/108482452903817442299/posts Andrew Bone

I hope shadowgun moves over, even though they put so much work into their own multiplayer engine

  • http://about.me/YagoRosaF Yago Rosa Fernández

Tested Plague Inc and I don't see anithing about Google+ or anything

  • Brainimpact

nice that the World of Goo apk from one of the Humble Bundles got updated too to include Play Game services

    • Thomas’

Also the anti-piracy feature is only optional - indie developer may allow to use the Google Game service for sideloaded games.

      • Brainimpact

That's good b/c I buy all the Indie Bundles and would think twice if they were to have features missing in the future, I like and want the Play services and would give future Bundles a Miss for the play store version if they were to miss those features.
I wonder if Amazon will allow developers to add Play Games Services to the games in their store?

  • warthog2k

Super Stickman Golf 2 from Noodlesoft

  • http://tonybullard.com toekneebullard

No link to it in the market?

    • Björn Lundén

Google Play Services gets pushed to your device automatically.

  • Marco Luis Cruz

Is this service only available in the US cause I'm having trouble signing into any of the games

    • Björn Lundén

No, it works fine for me in Sweden. Make sure you have gotten the latest Google Play Services pushed to your device already.

  • ldjdj

    Zookeeper too finally friend multiplayer

  • Kevin G. Sanchez

Do you guys have the Play Games app that had shown up on previous articles?

    • Björn Lundén

There is not supposed to be an app icon. If you use a shortcut app or a launcher that allows you to create shortcuts to any activity you can make one for the settings but little else of interest. The earlier article also pointed out that was how they got the icon.

  • rmkilc

World of Goo does not sync gameplay.

    • Alexei Watson

      neither does mine...

Qbism and Hungry Monstrous blowing studios were also launch titles.

  • Max Frankow

That's a great move by Google. This new API is pretty slick and easy to implement - I have just added achievements to my game in just one evening. Right now there's only a couple of titles mostly from studios that had some early access from Google (and released minutes after Google IO keynote started :)) but I expect many big and small devs integrating it very soon.

Here's a link to my game just in case anyone's into solo card games: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.crimsonpine.solitairechampionhd.klondike
