Have you tried finding a Glass system dump? It's impossible. A Google search turns up the same thing, over and over again: Me, talking about system dumps or begging for one.

So, to rectify this great injustice of the Internet (and because people keep asking me, personally) we've decided to hit you up with the Glass system dump. The Explorer program seems to be all about hacking and experimentation, so hopefully Google adopts an open policy towards posting Glass code. Please don't yell at us. <3

You can grab the original 285.7MB version of the Glass software, XE4, from our list of mirrors:

And the brand new, updated, 298.9MB XE5 version from any of these fine bit shifters:

If you find anything neat, or get any of this to run on something that it isn't supposed to run on, let us know.

He always wants to talk about "the big picture" and what's next for Android, and he's not afraid to get knee-deep in an APK for some details. Expect a good eye for detail, lots of research, and some lamenting about how something isn't designed well enough.

whats with the vid at /media/guest_mode_video.mp4

        • Yuku Sugianto

Probably a placeholder video.. they are testing guest mode for Glass users to lend Glass to their friends.

Guest mode is a thing. That's the video that plays to show off video.

I am so on this! We are working on a Golf App at http://iCaddy.com and this will really help ( as long as Google does not change this weekly )

    Glass photosphere may work..
I installed Nova launcher to test Glass apps by making shortcuts.. every thing force closed, expect Glass photosphere, unfortunately I have CM 10.1 camera on my Nexus so I can't test that Glass Photosphere..

Now to find a spare prism, processor, camera, and battery and get to work!

It's looking like the apps are not running due to a framework issue, I looked at what might be causing it to force close in a logcat but ended up finding the folders I theorised might be the dependencies Here is a copy of my logcat if anyone finds something let me know, I have a device I'm happy to break a thousand times. https://www.dropbox.com/s/97dmq1r104cyg3v/BugReport_201305090944.txt

The framework issue might be fixable if someone deodexes the framework JARs and puts them in /system/framework, along with creating a glass_fonts folder in /system. AFAIK you need init.rc from the device to start the deodex process, which I can't find.

Does this mean we can get Google Now and Voice Search working on ICS?

  • Juan

Thanks! That's awesome code, but it really begs the question as to why they have crippled the Mirror API from access to things like Photosphere and the sensors while at the same time put glass in the hands of more stupid-assed users rather than developers...
