Allow me to be frank for a moment: Beautiful Widgets is one of my most-used, longest-installed widgets since I started using Android. I actually bought it on my OG Droid back in the day, and have literally used it on every device I've owned since then. One of my favorite things about it is the developer – LevelUp Studio does an absolutely fantastic job of not only updating the app, but adding new features fairly often. This app has really grown up over the last few years.

But now, there's also a free version. This is perfect for new Android users or those who live in a country that may not yet allow the purchasing of apps. The variant of the app is, of course, much lighter than its Pro counterpart. Here's what is has to offer:

For free, discover a lot of function :
- A dedicated screen for weather forecast with beautiful animations
- Precise information for your location using Accuweather data
- 3 different kind of widgets : Clock, Weather and Toggle Wifi
- 10 downloads for beautiful themes in a database for more than 2000+ different themes

Another cool thing about this build of the app is that its completely customizable via in-app purchases. If you only needs certain aspects of BW and don't want to shell out the funds for the whole shebang, you can now pick and choose what features you like in an almost a la carte fashion. Of course, there's also the option to spring for the full version directly from within the app, as well.

Hit the widget to give it a shot – you'll be glad you did.

Can you provide any better screenshot of why this is better? The screenshots never sell me very well on this app... I don't see why it's so popular.

I used to exclusively use BW, but I've moved on since they can't seem to get the app to stop locking itself up, changing the configuration I have it set at, freezing upon weather updates and such. I've had all those problems across my Note 2, Galaxy Nexus, TF101 and Samsung Fascinate. At some point, you just cut your losses and move on. Does help that HD Widgets was on sale when I made that decision, though. ;)

does it have a customizable power widget?

As far as I know, the only thing it's really useful for is weather/time and maybe battery level.

Worth every bit of the money for the paid version I bought years ago.

Does this provide widgets optimized for tablets like 8x1, 8x2, 4x7, 6x1, 6x2 widgets??
If it doesn't then I'll always prefer HD Widgets over this one.
