I may be an unabashed lover of quality audio, but the sheer "d'awww" factor of this bugdroid portable speaker is enough to contemplate reaching for my credit card right now. This isn't a new product, but it normally costs $30, and it's just $20 right now at Best Buy's website (free shipping).

It manages 8 watts of peak output, stows an 850mAh lithium ion battery that can be used for up to 6 hours of maximum volume playback, and has a retractable 3.5mm stereo cable (no Bluetooth, sorry). And surprisingly, the reviews for it on Amazon (where it costs $30) are outstanding - 4.5 stars with 182 reviews at the time of this writing.

I have a similar one in the normal shape from Barnes & Nobles. Mono speaker but, for its size and $20, it sounds great. Frickin adorable too. Eyes light up blue and when charging, they are red and it reminds me of a terminator. Making it dance is just too much adorable =P

I got it as a christmas gift, and for what it is, it works pretty well

No, but it does have a micro-USB port for power. So, your phone charge will work nicely.

      • jb

yep, i know i thought i was going to be able to user a best buy gift card that i have had for 3 years. but they dont allow them for marketplace items... not bad for $21 or so bucks

Ok, just checking. I see a bunch of people who end up commenting in a thread thinking they can win something, and it's obvious they didn't even read the article. You're fine, though. Carry on, good sir/ma'am.

I bought my daughter the GoGroove speaker that looks like a koala. Same speakers, different housing. I was blown away by the sound quality for such a small, portable speaker. I'm thinking about this one for myself.

  • Brian Walker

The Android enthusiast in me thinks this is awesome. The music lover in me remains cautious about sound quality. I'm probably not the target market, though, since I would be using this at my desk, where I am already looking at better desktop speakers. Something like this would be redundant, for me, but dammit if it isn't still pretty cool.

  • scuttlefield

Awesome! My wife and I were just talking about needing a speakers for her tablet and/or phone. I was a little skeptical about the sound this would produce, but the reviews are downright glowing! Just ordered one.

Just bought it now. Thanks for the info.

  • Daniela Schneader

That is pretty cool but not worth 30 or 20 bucks....should be free with android purchases.
