We should've seen this coming. Really, Samsung, it's our fault. We should've stopped you when you put on that incredibly sexist Broadway show. We didn't. We argued that it was funny and then even enabled you by saying you have better marketing than HTC. We set you up for this. What could we have expected except a Gangnam Style parody that touts the virtues of the Galaxy S4?
The above video of the song...*sigh*...Samsung Style, was taken at a Galaxy S4 launch party in India. The man you see singing on stage is Ranveer Singh, a Bollywood superstar. To put this in perspective for you Westerners, this is roughly akin to hiring Hugh Jackman to sing a buzzword-filled version of All The Single Ladies in Times Square. Which, let's be honest, every single one of you would pay actual money dollars to see.
Samsung, come on now. You're better than this. You're one of the two global leaders in smartphone marketing. You've managed to sell millions upon millions of phones because you employ people who know how to resonate with customer and get a positive message into the hearts and minds of dozens of cultures. Can we do something better?
"A precious stone glittering in the dark, or countless stars sparkling in the night sky, we were inspired by these kinds of elements in nature."
Okay, you know what, nevermind. Let's go back to Weird Al's "special" cousin with a marketing degree.
