When it comes to well-support devices, ASUS is a company that stands by its products. The TF300 was the first non-Nexus device to get Android 4.2, and the Taiwanese manufacturer followed up by bringing the updated build to the TF700 (Infinity) and MeMO Pad Smart.

Today, it's sending another small (17MB) update to the TF300 that brings a handful of improvements and bug fixes:

1. IME bugs fix
2. improve HDMI compatibility with more devices in the market
3. improve the Gmail compatibility with Splashtop
4. improve the privacy : only account owner can access any UI or settings related to external storage device
5. Other minor bugs fixed

To pull the update, head into Settings > About Device > System update. If you're the type who'd rather flash the update manually, however, it has also made the full ROM available on its site.

So, no words regarding I/O lag?

    TF201 is dead?

  • Jimmy Blagaich

will this fix the no sleep (deep sleep?) bug? Leaving the TF300 alone for one day leaves it dead now in standby, pretty frustrating when it originally would last for almost 2 weeks in standby with the dock attached, now with the dock I'm lucky to get 1 day of standby

    • New_Guy

That's really odd. Earlier this week I left mine in my bag and literally forgot is was there for three days and when I opened it last night it still had 80% on tab and 65% on the doc. I only remember because I was a little impressed :-) .

No TF-201 news?? Shame, great tablet. Another reason to stick with Nexus devices.

They still are not fixing the sleep of death. When are they going to fix this? It's so annoying.

    • Nic Hilgendorf

I haven't had the sleep of death happen since I updated, but it's only been a few days. Here's hoping.

      • Fred

I haven't either, but it happened to someone on XDA. I just got the update this morning, so we'll see.

I tried to install the update and it failed to install. When I tried to check for the update, it says I was up to date On

This update has been fine for me since I received it a few days ago. No issues with the battery or trying to wake the device after being in standby for a length of time.

That said, after the prior update and leap to 4.2, it did give me battery issues. I did a factory reset and it was back to its normal self. Those of you with issues may have to try this if you have not already.

Still buggy i.e. still lags like all heck, randomly reboots occasionally, and some screen sensitivity issues. The TF101 was so much better in some ways, but it abruptly died after about a year. Honestly, I can't recommend an Asus tablet at all these days.

  • bigdadycool

Surprised at some of the negative comments about the t300 its been rock solid for me since I got it in sept of 2012 great piece of hardware.

You have no I/O lag issues? if so... are you using a sdcard?

  • Dillon Lawrence

For all those wondering, Asus did actually confirm to me in a live chat that the TF201 will get 4.2. Though I can't vouch for the authenticity of such claims.
