tetristiny

If you like Tetris—wait, what the heck am I saying? Of course you like Tetris. Everyone likes Tetris. Disliking Tetris is like disliking ice cream, or baby animals. You like Tetris. And EA is about to make you a little bit happier with the release of Tetris Blitz on the Play Store. Though, this is just a soft launch so it may not be available in your area yet.

Since this is coming from EA, you can expect the requisite in-app purchases for various power-ups if you really want to spoil Tetris. Come on, though. This is friggin' Tetris. We all know that you can play this game for hours without in-app purchases. In fact, EA would have to go out of its way to ruin a game this simple and entertaining. The company would have to do something completely ridiculous like, I don't know, require an always-on internet connection to a faulty server and remove the ability to save and reload games at will.

Actually, saving your game in Tetris would be silly. I must be thinking of something else.

There are two different versions of the game on the Play Store right now. One for North America (NA), and one for the rest of the world (ROW). Though, for reasons unknown, Japan is included in NA and Mexico is part of ROW. Sure, why not. The game is only available in Canada and Mexico right now as this is a soft launch, but you can expect the title to roll out everywhere in the near future.

David and I played this at GDC this year, and I must say - it was extremely well-made. Of course, it's a casual game, so not everyone will like it, but there are many things to like about it.

I don't think IAPs are required at all, and it tries to keep you coming back with daily bonus items and stuff like that. You don't have multiplayer from what I remember, but there are global scoreboards, of course.

When this game reaches a wide release, we'll definitely post a note.

So, they choose not to make the game initially available to the country in which they were voted to be the worst company. Not looking to score any friend points, I see.

Not available in Lithuania. What a shame :'(

Apparently it's not compatible with anything I have, what?
Nevermind, I bothered to read the headline.

Who's got the apk. It's not piracy, it's a free game.

Just google for "tetris blitz apk". Tons of download sites.

Neither is available in the UK, which is odd.

      It's EA, nothing is odd.

      • CJ Holder

True, I wouldn't be surprised if this needed an always on connection.

Surprisingly some android games do need that, to check if you bought the game each time you start it up.

Not available in Australia either. It doesn't appear to be available to anyone at this stage but it has reviews on Google Play. Who did they release it too? EA staff only??

  • primalxconvoy

It's available via the "Aptoide" shop app, much like any other app.

    Also not available in Germany.

What is "rest of the world" from EA's point of view??
