Over the past few weeks we've highlighted several Play Store sales that hit at the end of each week. Today, however, looks like a few devs decided to try middle-of-the-week sales, and we figured some of those may not make it to the week's end. So here it is – a short list of sales that are happening right now.

If any of those strike your fancy, it'd probably be a good idea to pick 'em up sooner rather than later. Some of them won't last long.

Can you do an article comparing the new Swype app to Swift Key especially when it comes to predictive text. Is the current.99 cent Swype comparable to the 3.99 swift key

    • PicKadilly

Swype is more accurate. I've been using SwiftKey for so long and now I've moved...

    • umataro42

I agree that Swype is much more accurate than Swiftkey's Flow at reading gestures, but Swiftkey has the better predictions, and I like the arrow keys option and it bothers me that the when you switch to the numbers keyboard on Swype there's no period button. So it really depends on what you want more, accurate reading of your swipes, or better prediction and more customization of the keyboard.

I ended up using SlideIT which offers both (still not as accurate as Swype though).

      • andy_o

The new version has the period in the # keyboard.

        • umataro42

Good to know, but I've gotten to like SlideIT. Unless Swype also added arrow keys and an option to change the trace color from orange to blue.

          • andy_o

Definite no on the color, but I'm not sure what you mean by arrow keys. I think an edit keyboard has been available for some time, which has arrow keys. Definitely on 1.5.

          • umataro42

For moving the cursor location, instead of using the pointer, which I sometimes have trouble with. Swiftkey for phone had an option to include directional arrow keys on the standard keyboard but as far as I knew Swype didn't. Unless it did and I never knew.

          • andy_o

I see what you mean. I have it disabled on Swiftkey, and on Swype they're not on the main keyboard, you have to swipe from the swype key to the numbers key which is right next to it.

      • Steven S

swype has always had the two numeric keyboards.. with My personal favorite always accessible by the swype key to 5 key gesture

swype gestures have always been important for Me

When swiftkey on sales, it also become 0.99.

Let me say a kind word about Strategy and Tactics: WWII - I rarely purchase (let alone install!) a game on the Play Store without having seen a few positive reviews in the blogs beforehand, but something about it intrigued me (mainly its striking resemblance to Paradox's "Hearts of Iron" series). Overall, I've been very impressed. It was well worth the full price and hopefully presages of lots of good times ahead for turn-based strategy on mobile.

What are your thoughts on this being a paid app with IAPs? Especially at $5 that it used to cost before the sale.

      • Aaron Berlin

I think it's entirely payable without buying anything in-game. I'm not going to pretend to have sunk 20 hours into it, but I haven't run into any missions I can't ultimately beat without buying in-game items.

Thanks for the info on Swype! I was unable to find it in the play store and the direct link+ price= purchase. Love Android police!

Does anyone know if Swype ever fixed the issue of the personal dictionary? I loved them initially, but when that stopped functioning properly it became a continual frustration. And I don't want to pay for the privilege of repeating that frustration. Any info would be appreciated on that point. Thanks.

    • Jim Crossley

Well it restored my previous dictionary, we'll see what happens next time I update.

You forgot about dropsync pro, it's also on sale, 30% off

Tried to download alien breed from the store, but due to docomo's unhelpful system, I couldn't. After calling their customer service chap, I informed him to pass on the fact that it's easier to sideload the game for free on the device than to go to their awful Japanese language website and / or walk into their shops and wait 30 minutes to get send.

    • primalxconvoy

Ps: I just bought alien breed on the psn instead. Swings and roundabouts.

Trainz Driver is the best game of this list ^^

I've been using Swype beta as it works better than swype that's built into my note 2. I wonder if the paid version now is same as beta.

    • Jim Crossley

It's not. There is a holo style keyboard and new menu interface. Slightly different keyboard layout too for numbers.
