It's been a long time coming, guys – we've definitely seen our fair share of upset Xperia P owners who've been waiting for this update. But, the good news is that it's finally here, and the P is joined by the go and E Dual.

According to the Sony blog, the 4.1 update not only brings Jelly Bean, but also a slew of new enhancements that Sony has been working to "blend" with the OS. Among these new features, you'll find updated versions of WALKMAN, Album, and movies; a way to make your battery last longer with "Battery STAMINA Mode," a more customizable launcher, more home screens, and more. For more details on the new features, check out Sony's post.

The update is scheduled to start hitting devices this week and will "ramp up over this month and next." Better late than never.

On a related note, owners of Xperia S, SL, acro S, and ion should expect their Android 4.1 updates to start at the end of May.

Kind of ridiculous that they updated Xperia J with Jelly Bean but didn't include updated media apps, new launcher, new app tray, new stamina mode, nothing. They updated Xperia E which is the same SoC and specs and we Xperia J users are still the only ones not to get the new good stuff.

    I'm ashamed of Sony.

OH, right! and let the Xperia S (remember? the "flagship" phone?) have it's update on the end of May, and that's if they don't delay it AGAIN. Sony is a joke.

Really, they hired some sort of monkeys for developers.

      I can handle late updates.

What I can't handle, however, is Sony assuring us the update will arrive in april, and now just telling us they lied and will have the update roll out only by the end of May. It's not just another week, it's more than a month later. And the Xperia P has it already, which wasn't even a flagship.

That's it, I'm going to flash another Jelly Bean ROM to my Xperia S. I have never really liked ROMs over a month, but my phone is just getting sluggish now.

I'm testing slimbean (find it on XDA) and so far it's very smooth and stable.

I haven't tried that one yet, but I do know that the one I'm using now is a great mixture of Xperia Z and Cyanogenmod Jelly Bean'ness!
It's called UXP. They also have a stable version and it's much smoother than ICS!
I'm glad I did this. Though when the official Jelly Bean from Sony arrives, and has most of the features of the Xperia Z, I'll reflash it to stock. I always prefer stock :)
