Playing emulated games on Android is something of a "don't ask, don't tell" affair when it comes to obtaining system BIOS files and such. Cloanto, owners of the Amiga OS license, though, have decided that you no longer should have to scrounge for the appropriate pieces to get Amiga emulation up and running on your device. The company released an app today called Amiga Forever Essentials, which is not only a mouthful, but a complete package of Amiga system ROMs for your enjoyment.

AFE contains Amiga 1.2, 1.3, 2.04, 3.0, and 3.1 system ROMs, so you can easily (and legitimately) emulate iconic devices like the Amiga 500 and Amiga 1200. The app is compatible out of the box with some of the Play Store's most popular Amiga emulators, including UAE4Droid, AnUAE4AII, UAE4AII2, and Omega 500 - among others. These emulators will automatically detect that AFE is installed on your device, and use the appropriate system ROMs. AFE is $0.99 on the Play Store right now, so go ahead and hit up the link below if you're interested.

I never used the Amiga, but if it's legit and only a dollar (£0.65). I might give it a whirl!

Give the users a way to legally emulate without gouging them (I'M LOOKING AT YOU NINTENDO)? How novel.

Why is everyone so crazy about Amiga emulation? It's not console, six on-screen buttons will not be enough, you'll most probably need a physical keyboard/mouse to play most games.
