Sprint Galaxy SIII owners fire up your "check now" fingers – you'll be getting a software update to version L710VPBMD4 soon, bringing a home screen security fix and a few other changes.

Specifically, the update – slated to start rolling out April 24 – brings Multi-View functionality (by which you can split the screen for multi-tasking purposes), enhancements to the camera and gallery apps, the addition of Samsung's Paper Artist photo editing app, and unspecified bulk SMS enhancements.

If you're the owner of a Sprint-bound Galaxy SIII and don't know the drill already, head over to Sprint's site for instructions on manually checking for your update, or simply wait for it to roll in.

I am in LA and nothing yet. The big problem I seem to be having is with KIES. As with the update for the GSII a while back for JB, I suspect this will be a large update and will come through via KIES, not OTA. I'm not the only one here with this issue it would seem. My firmware is MB1 as is everything else. It all matches on my Sprint Samsung Galaxy SIII. But sadly, Kies is saying "Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update via Kies"
I am not and never have been rooted, have never travelled out of the state of CA with this phone and my CSC should be matching my Sales Code according to my Sprint Rep. Any help? Sprint is saying that Kies does not have the latest Sprint firmware in it's system and therefore thinks it's a custom ROM of some sort.
SamMobile says that my latest firmware was back in '12 as a different number, however I know other people that have MB1 also.

Please, no derogatory comments about Kies. I know it may not be the best software but I use it whenever I don't get an OTA since I don't/won't root. I am well aware of all the negative things said about Kies so there is no need to repeat them here.

I never thought to check Kies; I was under the impression this was going OTA.

  • Pawel

I was able to grab it at the sprint store. Did not have time to check the features. But still waiting to get it on my own phone.

Just got it here in Atlanta, GA.

  • Ovdevil

Got it in Az through OTA today.

Just wondering after the mc3/md4 installation, will there be a new rooting procedure, or just install the leaked ( no data version ),and still have root, but will we need a custom recovery, like CWM. If so how do you install it.

    Thanks

Manually Force OTA Update on Sprint Galaxy S3

    1. First, check to see if the update is available to you. Goto Settings -> System Update -> Update Samsung Software and hit “Check Now” . If no update is available, continue to the next step.

    2. Goto Settings -> Application Manager -> (scroll over to all) Google Services Framework then hit “Clear data”

    3. Now, go back to check and see if an update is available to you. When you enter this screen, it show that you last checked for an update back in 1967. Goto Settings -> System Update -> Update Samsung Software and hit “Check Now” . If no update is available, you will need to repeat step 2.

    4. Repeat the above steps until and update is available to you. It can take you 1-2 times or even 20+ times before you luck out and have the update available. For me, it took 1 time, however, I have seen some take up to 19 times.

      Took me 25-30 times.

OH MY GOD!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!. It only took 1 time, but that was over an hour. I am on Sprint, and I tried to tether my phone to my computer last week (which didn't work) and every since then my phone didn't function properly. When I made a call it would dial for 15 to 30 seconds before ringing. It didn't always ring when I got a call, I couldn't get online, or get updates. This solved "every" problem I was having. I was really stressing and you saved me from so much more stress. Thanks again and again.

I just got my update today and am impressed with multi-view - I can see this becoming handy in the future and I played around with the camera and it looks awesome too and not sure if it's a coincidence or not but the same day I applied the update I also started getting a VERY strong 4g signal at work. 16.5 down and 4.5 up. Multi-View was enabled by default but I had to disable and re-enable it for it to start working.

The latest software upgrade to the Samsung Galaxy S3 includes a Bulk SMS Enhancement. I don't see any differences, the factory install app still only allows you to text up to 10 numbers at a time. Can you explain the differences with the new update for the Bulk SMS Enhancement?...
