It's Friday, at least here in the western hemisphere, and a bunch developers seem to have decided to discount their apps. Everything from triple-A games to handy tools are on sale up to 80%. Some have even gone free. Without any further ado, let's get to the deals - if you can't see the widgets right away, wait for the page to load them all. Keep in mind that the widgets below may not reflect current prices.

Games

EPOCH

EPOCH, an impressive Unreal-powered cover shooter, is on sale just a couple of weeks after its Android debut. Normally $4.99, you can pick it up for just a buck right now, a savings of 80%. We've got a review coming for EPOCH tomorrow, but I can tell you right now, it's well worth a dollar if you're a fan of console-style third person shooters.

Gangstar Rio: City of Saints

Gameloft's organized crime opus Gangstar Rio: City of Saints is $4.99, normally $6.99, a savings of 30%. This game is a rip-off of Saints Row, which in turn borrows liberally from Grand Theft Auto, so Gameloft is taking its usual barely-restrained antics to the next level. Even so, there's plenty out there who love the kooky series.

Yesterday.

BulkyPix has two games for 50% off each: the thriller-adventure game Yesterday (now $2.99) and the tower defense shooter Redneck Revenge (now just a buck). Both have been well-received, but if you like old-school point-and-click adventure games, you'll want to pounce on Yesterday in particular.

Bridge Constructor

To wrap up our games we've got a couple of physics puzzlers and an old-school Breakout clone. Bridge Constructor is half off for $2.99, 101 Crane Missions is 66% of for one dollar, and Deflection is now completely free.

Tools

Root Call Blocker Pro

Root Call Blocker is a savior for those afflicted with chronic telemarketers. It isn't the prettiest app around, but it's gotten a Holo update since we reported on it a couple of years ago, and it's as useful as ever. Root Call Blocker is just $2.99 this weekend, down 57% from its regular price of $6.99.

Mobile Doc Scanner (MDScan)

The interface on Mobile Doc Scanner isn't much, but it's undeniably useful. Take a photo of a document, and this app will realign and clean the photo, turning your phone into a quick and dirty scanner. Scanned docs are output to PDF. It's on sale for 80%, just a dollar.

Oxford Advanced Learner's 8

Here's a double dose of language tools: the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary and the ad-free Dictionary.com app. The former is half off (but still pretty expensive) at $14.99, while the latter is 66% off, for just a buck.

Dictionary.com Premium

Call Notes Pro Sale

Finally, we've got some more pedestrian tools in Call Notes Pro and Mighty Grocery Shopping List. The notation app is 75% off at one dollar, while the grocery list is half off for $1.99.

Music Apps

n7music Player Full Version Unlocker

We've featured the n7music Player before. It's got one of the most adaptable and unique interfaces out there, along with a fully integrated file browser (handy for finding those downloaded tracks or podcasts without messing with your Google Play Music playlist). The unlock app is $1.99 today, 33% off.

GoneMAD Music Player Unlocker

The GoneMAD player has a small but dedicated userbase, who appreciates support for massive libraries (50,000 songs or more) and incredibly dense equalizer options. The unlocker is on sale for just a dollar, an impressive 75% off.

Most of the apps above are on sale for this weekend only. If you want to take advantage of the low prices, move now, not later.

Is epoch worth buying? Watch some gameplay videos of it most of the comments point that gameplay is bad in game.. Any ideas?

    • lbalcziak58

I bought it on my Epic Touch 4g (Sprint Galaxy S2) and it's pretty fun! The graphics are amazing, and the gameplay is quite fluid, The only downside is that the weapons cost quite a bit

Just installed and played it a bit. It's pretty well-made, but I question the repetitiveness and interest level after playing for a while. I don't think it's nearly as interesting as other games out there (still obsessed with Anomaly Korea myself right now).

    • Jeremiah Rice

I've been playing it to review, and I like it a lot. A bit simple, but there's always something new to check out. At five bucks it's a little pricey, but at $1, it's more than worth it.

It's repeatative. Each subsequent level doesn't have anything new to play; only new enemy weapons and more enemies. If you have an iOS device, you can get it for free there right now.

This is why I'm not entirely 'on-board' with the "free apps can't be turned into paid app" policy of play store. Epoch is on sale on both play store and iOS app store right now. While it is going for one dollar on play store, it is free on iOS.

Yeah that makes no sense. It basically forbids "free sales". Which were awesome when I had an iPhone.

my neighbor's mother makes $79 hourly on the laptop. She has been out of work for 6 months but last month her pay was $12546 just working on the laptop for a few hours. Read more on  Jive8.com

Yesterday looks like a fun game. Downloading the free version first to try it out (using 4G, take that, Verizon!) and hopefully its still on sale if I decide I like it. But with that size, it'll have to be for my GNex and not the N7.

      • John

Yeah, I just got it installed and working on my computer. Color me impressed by it so far.

one of the best apps ever!

  • Tim Robbins

Unified Remote is ninety nine cents. It's usually 3. Good for those who want to control their computer with the device. Supports a fair amount of programs and it can act like a mouse or a computer.

Price of deprofundis premium package has been dropped also. Its the best android diablo like so far.
