After a brief soft launch* in the Great White North, the classic Worms 2: Armageddon has expanded its Play Store presence to most countries (so far as we can tell, at least). It's $5 to get your turn-based explosion fix on, and early reviews of the game on the Play Store look promising. 30 single player missions are included, and there's even online multiplayer (as well as local hot seat mode).

*A 'soft launch,' if you're not familiar with the term, is a way for a developer to test an app's stability, level of interest, and compatibility in a live environment without a high level of risk. This is done by launching the app in a single country or region (in this case, Canada) for a limited period of time, observing the results, fixing bugs, and then opening up the app to additional countries. It's a much more prevalent practice on iOS, but we're seeing more and more Android games use it, too.

It's amazing how Worms is still going after all these years. It's a great example of a simple, fun, social game with great replay value. Anyone remember LAN party Worms games. Good times.

Appears as $3.84 for me. Still, too expensive.

  • synikil

Yeah let me know when this is 99 cents

  • Andrea

I bought the older worms which has been removed. Can i get this for free? :)

  • primalxconvoy

4.99 is a bit too expensive for me, especially without a free demo to test it. I'll wait till it's .99.

Come on man. It's a legit game. That's worth more than the .99 freemium cookie cutter crap.

      • ryguy-rysin

Many of us can't afford $4.99, Fatty. THANKS OBAMA.

I tried the game for free. It's crap. Terrible controls, little in the way of tutorials and clumsy menu system full of confusing icons; none of which helps newbs.

I played it on the Amiga originally and even I was confused. It's like the devs just ported it lazily from a pc.

They need to learn something from Rovio. Even my friend said (a bit ignorantly) that it resembled "a poor clone of angry birds".

Team 17, please up your game and lower your price. There's good lads.

My team seems to be sick by default, any ideas why?

    • frettafrunz

Ehe, it seems you illegaly downloaded the game. Isn't this punishable by ban? :P

Oh yes, this is bought. I love the Worms series.

  • Caligulove

Funny how cheap everyone is. They poured a lot into this game and it's not some EA ripoff. Support them.
