bitdefender
Last Updated: April 28th, 2013

When it comes to keeping your data safe, you can never be too careful. And while there are a slew of various anti-virus apps available for Android, there are few that provide the type of protection that can be obtained from Bitdefender.

Enter the team's newest app: Bitdefender Antivirus Free. This app offers all the goodness of Bitdefender's antivirus protection – minus some of the advanced features of the company's Mobile Security suite – at absolutely no cost. This is a fantastic solution for anyone looking to get some of the best anti-virus protection available for Android without having to spend a penny.

This contest is now over.

The final results are listed below. If you've won, you will be contacted in the near future. Congratulations!

Everyone else - keep participating and stay tuned to Android Police so that you don't miss our upcoming giveaway announcements. You can follow AP on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, and RSS.

Like any good a/v, Bitdefender Free sits in the background and monitors incoming files, scanning new apps as they're installed. The scanner also watches over SD card and internal storage contents, alerting you of any potential risks should they show up. And it does all this silently – there's no persistent notification icon, and the app shouldn't have an impact on battery life. It takes essentially zero set up, as well; just install it and it's ready to go.

So far as mobile anti-virus is concerned, it's hard to ask for an app that does more while keeping everything as minimal as Bitdefender. Hit the widget to give it a shot.
