At this point, we've covered the benefits of having a portable charger/battery pack so much that you probably have all the reasons to buy one engrained in your memory. If you still haven't invested in one (or need to upgrade), however, tech.woot has a pretty solid deal on a couple of chargers from uNu.

The 5,000mAh Enerpak Tube is going for a mere $34, while its larger brother – the 11,000mAh Enerpak Vault – is available for $50. Considering the latter is pushing $80 on Amazon, those are both solid deals.

Both chargers feature a 5V 1A input and 5V 1A output, but the Vault also has a larger 5V 2.1A output for charging more power-hungry devices like tablets. If you're on the fence about which one to buy, I'd recommend springing for the Vault, as it's never a bad thing to have more power than you need, but it's never a good thing to have less.

Just like all other Woot deals, $5 ships your entire order, regardless of if you by one or 10 things. Hit the link below to check it out.

or you could go with 10,400 mah for 38.99 or the 7800mah for 33.99 RAVPower ones on amazon. slickdeals recently had the 7800mah one for 26.99

    • jonathan3579

Is that on the same site?

      • tjwoo

not on woot, but on amazon. Won't let me link, but google it. I recently received the 7800 one in the mail, looks pretty solid, though on the heavy side

Thank you for your help. I'm gonna look into to. The extra 600 mAh for $11 seems negligible.

Bought a 20k mAh external battery for $25 on eBay. Best decision ever, especially since I'm going to be out a lot this summer playing Ingress.

thats exactly why I am going to get one!

Buying a 20k mAH external battery for $25 on Ebay is like buying a 64gb micro sd or 64gb flashdrive for $25. It will be a fake. Trust me. Nothing is 20kmAH at that price. Some external battery packs sold on Ebay are known to contain sand packs inside the case to add weight. No joke.

How do you know? And why do those sellers have such good feedback scores? All those batteries are made in China, and you bet Western websites are going to apply a hefty profit margin, even though the internals come from the same factory...it is of course possible that *some* chargers are low quality, but many will probably be fine.

Mine has 4 LED indicators. And I have not had any issues with mine yet.

          • Haedocynic

Great! I'm still waiting for mine, though...

It's a shame that all of these sites don't ship outside of the US. Trying to get an external battery is a nightmare. :-(
