Today, Google rolled out an update to the YouTube app (v4.4.11) that will allow frequent users to get easier access to their favorite content producers with the 'My Subscriptions' feed. In the slide-out panel on the left side of your device, you can now tap on this section to get a list of all the most recent videos from your favorite directors in one place.

Additionally, channels that have signed up for One Channel, which allows more customization of your channel and a better branding experience, will now see their tweaks within the app. For users, this just means that you'll be able to tell which videos are from what easier.

Here's the full change log:

What's in this version:

* Quickly access new uploads from your subscriptions using the "My Subscriptions" feed
* Fixed a bug which caused some accounts to periodically sign out
* YouTube One Channel branding for video creator channels
* Other bug fixes and stability improvements

The update is available on the Play Store right now.

Finally, an easy way to only look at my subscriptions on my phone. Really shouldn't have taken this long for that feature.

    • IncCo

this has been possible for a very long time, you just need to change it in the settings..

      • blahmoomoo

Hence why I said "easy." Figured there was a way, but it wasn't in the obvious place.

What!? It was ONE option in the settings. You had to switch it ONCE and you were good to go. Now you have to switch your view EVERY TIME you lauch the app! How is that better?

They've fixed also annoying bug from last version when the app was claiming that it supports only 360p and 600p mode. Now you can switch to 720p (if you have ParanoidAndroid ROM) and watch videos in landscape not full-screened.

I just use "tubemate". It supports up to 1080p streams and downloads for android. Why use the stock YouTube browser?

  • NexusKoolaid

Sorry for the OT, but thanks for the non-Facebook related post (that's all everyone is talking about today).

  • RedPandaAlex

    Yay!

  • Danny Holyoake

Did it fix the login bug?

OMG i f***** hope so.... SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ANNNOOOYOYYYINNG!

    • fixxmyhead

read the damn article. its right there second one down in the changelog

      • Danny Holyoake

I did read the article, just not the official changelog. I saw 'bug fixes' on its own line and didn't expect to see a separate line dedicated to a separate bug. My bad.

        • QwietStorm

You didn't expect a line in the changelog for a specific bug. Where would you.. Never mind.

It did for me, no longer have to reauthenticate since.

I really miss the carousel on my tablet. But more importantly, are we never getting a dedicated reply function in the app?

  • mesmorino

I just wish they would sort out the widget. Worst widget in the entire history of widgets

  • Matthew Fry

    Dat creepy face...

  • NoBullet

Ok this sucks. Now I always have to open the menu and hit My Subscription to see what they uploaded. Instead of seeing it right away like before. DUMB

Also they still didnt give the option to turn off HQ by default on tablets.

    • Barton82

Exactly! I'm amazed that no one saw that. It's quite annoying to change the view every time you launch the app. I know what I want to see, I don't need this "what to watch" view. Especially not as the default view.

I don't want no what to watch list. Most of the time, that list is full of things I don't wanna watch. I just want it to default back to my subscriptions.

Sorry, what the fuck is this? I LIKED having the app's default page open to my subscriptions. Now, much like YouTube's desktop site, I have to switch to My Subscriptions every time. Or in the case of the desktop version, bookmark the subscriptions page and remember never to return to YouTube's homepage.

They need to stop forcing users to use their recommended videos feed. It's highly annoying. I recognized it at once upon opening the app today and I knew that I would find similar complaints (except for that one idiot who doesn't know how to operate software settings and wants developers to automatically tailor settings to every individual user's needs) about it.
