Android Police review: Bladeslinger Review: More Than Just A Pretty Face

Oh look, another wait-and-tap 3D fighter in the vein of Infinity Blade. But don't dismiss this one just yet: Bladeslinger brings both a fresh look and some new ideas to the genre. Set in a fantastic, horror-fied version of the old west, the game shows off some insanely good graphics... if you've got a Tegra 3 device, that is. Also beware of clunky default controls and in-app purchases.

Selected as Editor's Choice in the iOS App Store, featured in *TegraZone* and rated 4/4 "Must Have" by critics, BLADESLINGER is a visually stunning, fast paced 3D action brawler developed exclusively for high-end mobile devices. BLADESLINGER follows the story of William Glaston as he returns to his hometown to confront an ancient evil. You play as William Glaston, a native of Hammer’s Peak returning home from war to find his once peaceful town deserted and overrun with hostile creatures he’s never seen before. Follow William’s quest for truth and the salvation of Hammer’s Peak.

Shoot Many Robots

Android Police coverage: 'Shoot Many Robots' Lands On Android, Just Please Don't Kill Andy

Another pilgrim from the land of the Xbox Live Arcade, Shoot Many Robots is an action game in which you... shoot lots and lots of robots. It's a mix between endless runner and Contra-style shooter, with a nice sprinkling of post-apocalypse to boot. Get through the levels and you'll be rewarded with better gear for your hillbilly avatar.

It's called "Shoot Many Robots" - do we really need to explain more? This endless runner (and gunner) has you playing as P. Walter Tugnut, the hapless hillbilly who loves nothing more than killing robots. Jettisoned from his RV, Walter barrels through farmlands and oil fields, shooting every chainsaw-wielding toaster that gets in his way. And there are LOTS of robots in his way. Full of explosive, robot-crushing action, Shoot Many Robots skips the fluff and delivers the gruff. Did we mention you'll be shooting a bazillion robots?

Real Boxing™

Android Police coverage: [New Game] Real Boxing Floats Like A Butterfly, Stings Like A Tegra 3 On Google Play

The last time we saw Real Boxing, it was strutting its stuff at NVIDIA's Shield event. Sure enough, it's come out as a Tegra exclusive, but it will play nice with current NVIDIA hardware. You'll want a Tegra 3 to get all the face-busting, sweaty graphics, but other gamers should enjoy the training and career moves, as well as the surprisingly comprehensive fighter customization.

Real Boxing™ brings you the most exhilarating, no holds barred fighting action ever seen on Android, Real Boxing's incredible graphics have been optimized for devices that are powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor to take you closer to the action than you ever thought possible. Oil Rush: Free Demo

Android Police coverage: Oil Rush Brings Beautiful Real Time Strategy To Mobile, But Only Invites Snapdragon S4 Devices To The Battle

Real-time strategy games usually give a passing glance to naval combat, if they consider it at all. But Oil Rush takes place exclusively on the seas, and looks good doing it. If Battleship was made with Fallout aesthetics on a Total War engine, you might get the same results. Unfortunately, only those with a Snapdragon S4 processor can join in the fun. This is the free demo of the high-end-game - the full version is a whopping $7.99.

Oil Rush is a 3D naval strategy game that takes place in a world where nuclear war has melted the ice caps, changing the face of the planet forever. It features unique gameplay focused on group control and global-scale decisions. Plan several steps ahead, as every single swipe counts. Get ready to command a naval war between furious armies striving for the last remaining supplies of oil. Smash through onrushing waves of enemies while experiencing a thrilling story of apocalypse, military technology, and never-ending battles.

The Conduit HD

Android Police coverage: [New Game] The Conduit HD Comes To Tegra Devices, Hoping To Prove That Mobile FPS Games Can Compete with Consoles

The Conduit got its start as one of the few examples of quality first-person shooters on the Wii, and now it's made the jump to Android. You'll be defending Washington DC from a hoard of invading aliens, using their own zappy guns against them. Customizable controls have survived the jump, but if you want to play, you'll need Tegra-powered hardware (preferably Tegra 3). The first two levels are free, with the rest of the game costing $5 (or two payments of $3).

The Conduit HD is an award-winning First Person Shooter brought to touchscreen devices for the first time, offering state of the art graphics, innovative controls and unique weapons to bring to bear against hordes of deadly foes. As Washington D.C. is embroiled in chaos, Secret Service agent Michael Ford finds himself recruited by a mysterious organization known as The Trust, and is quickly caught up in a national crisis, an alien invasion and a web of conspiracies that date back hundreds of years. Now you must help him learn to use bizarre new weapons, battle deadly aliens, discover ancient secrets, and save the world if you can figure out who you can trust

Squids Wild West

Android Police coverage: Squids Wild West Hits The Play Store, Mashes Up Every Game Ever

Squids Wild West is one of those games that defies description. The 2D battles are turn-based and feature classes, like an old-school tactical RPG, but the weapons and attacks incorporate physics, like every mobile game made since Angry Birds. Why a bunch of squids have decided to re-enact a spaghetti western is anyone's guess, but if you want a little combat in your Spongebob-inspired gameplay, you won't find anything better.

The Squids are back: bigger and better. The epic adventure continues as our band of stretchy heroes explore the underwater Wild West, fight back against the evil Black Ooze, and search for Winnick, their fallen comrade. If you don't know SQUIDS yet, SQUIDS Wild West is a great place to start.  SQUIDS Wild West has a unique mix of action strategy and RPG: build your team of heroes for challenging turn-based battles against corrupted crabs and shrimp. This sequel is even better than the original, with many surprises in store: devious new enemies, four new playable characters, and nearly twice as many levels.

Dynamite Jack

Android Police coverage: [New Game] From The Makers Of Galcon, Dynamite Jack Blasts Into The Play Store

Dynamite Jack was part of the Humble Bundle for Android 5, where many indie games get their start on the platform. If you've got some kind of philosophical reason not to support developers and charities (or you just want a copy that's easy to download to multiple devices) this 2D stealth game is a reasonable $3.99.

Dynamite Jack must blast his way to freedom. Jack, a brave space marine, armed with only bombs and a flashlight, must escape the Anathema Mines. Use stealth to sneak past guards and bombs to obliterate enemies in this intense top-down action-adventure. Each level brings you closer to the surface of the Anathema Mines. Battle your way through guards, scientists, cave trolls, lasers, and robotic spiders. Have you destroyed and crushed the game? It's time to make MORE GAME. The super simple level editor will empower you to create levels in just minutes. You can share them with your friends and the world.

Usagi Yojimbo:Way of the Ronin

Android Police coverage: [New Game] Usagi Yojimbo: Way of the Ronin Arrives On Android, Sword In Hand

Usagi Yojimbo is a gigantic rabbit samurai. He hangs out with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles every Saturday. In this game based on the ongoing comic book series, you take control of the titular rabbit as he battles through waves of enemies in the standard Battletoads style. Come to think of it, there are quite a lot of anthropomorphic martial artists running around.

Usagi Yojimbo: Way of the Ronin is the new game based on the classic comic by Stan Sakai. Travel with Miyamoto Usagi on an epic journey, battling over 50 enemies and 13 boss monsters pulled right from the comics. Wield the legendary sword Grasscutter as you travel across feudal Japan in a tale to restore order to the land.

Android Police coverage: [New Game] SNK Releases Metal Slug X For Android

We've already seen a handful of Mobile releases of Metal Slug, SNK's love letter to the shoot-em-up genre. Now Metal Slug X, widely considered the best in the original series (and technically a remake of Metal Slug 2, available for the same price) is also on the Play Store. If you're itching for guns, tanks, and more 2D bullets than you can throw a grenade at, you know what to do.

The masterpiece of 2D action-shooting, "METAL SLUG X", lands on Android. Foil General Morden's new coup attempt. Bosses and other enemy characters await you at different points on the battlefield, so that even players who have perfected the previous installment will enjoy this new and improved game map. New weapons, such as the "Iron Lizard" (remote-controlled missiles), the "Drop Shot" (bouncing landmines), and the "Enemy Chaser" (homing missiles), have been added to the impressive METAL SLUG arsenal. In addition to the classic “ARCADE MODE”, you can select any mission you have previously cleared and play them separately in “MISSION MODE”. You can enjoy your favorite stages at will and train on the missions you have not mastered yet.

Jones On Fire

Android Police coverage: [New Game] Jones On Fire: You're A Fireman Saving Kittens From An Inferno In A Minecraft-Esque 3D World - Any Questions?

Pixelated graphics are played out. We need to dig deeper into this meta trend with 3D pixels. And as long as we're being sarcastic, you couldn't find a more self-aware game than Jones On Fire, in which you run through the level as a fireman firefighter saving kittens. The only more noble endeavor would be stopping drug dealers from punching orphans.

Beat 10 levels of dangerous mountain terrain, improving Jones’ skills with every fluffy life saved. Dominate your friends on the kitty-saving leaderboards, and gain the adoration of millions of cats. Android Police coverage: [New Game] Heroes Of Destiny Looks To Be A Well-Made Action RPG By Glu Mobile... So Hide Your Wallet

Top-down dungeon-crawling is the order of the day in Glu's latest title, but thanks to a party of four heroes, you'll get a little more flexibility than the standard hack-and-slash game. Imagine it as a game of Gauntlet where you use all four players at once. There's a story, sure, but at the end of the day it's all about killin' monsters and getting loot. As with all Glu titles, beware the wallet-crushing in-app purchases within.

A mysterious evil known as the Darkness has invaded the Kingdom of Lerona and beyond, corrupting everything in its wake and unleashing chaos. Android Police coverage: [New Game] Noodlecake Releases Super Stickman Golf 2 - 20 Brand-New Levels, Online Multiplayer, And Lots More Content

The original Super Stickman Golf was one of the most unique "golf" games ever, melding the usual power swing mechanics with physics puzzles and crazy levels. Noodlecake delivers more of the same (not that it's a bad thing) with the sequel, with more levels and an online multiplayer mode to spice things up. Oh, and hats. Hats make everything better - right Valve?

Catcha Catcha Aliens!

Android Police coverage: Catcha Catcha Aliens! Hits The Play Store, Dry British Humor Included

Yup, another runner game. But this one might just catch your eye (sorry) especially if you're looking for some much-needed variety. Instead of generic coins, you're nabbing aliens, like a xenobiologist Pokemon trainer. The dry British feel might be appealing for some, not for others, but it looks like there's been a lot of work put into this one.

Hone your skills as an interplanetary Catcha, clearing planets of evil alien invaders, in this fast, fun game of skill and endurance. Finally available on Android. "Catcha Catcha Aliens." is a mission based catching game with refreshing gameplay, lively characters, cool music and the voice talents of Stephen Fry and Jonathan Ross.

Earn to Die Lite

Android Police coverage: [New Game] iOS Hit Earn To Die Comes To Android, All The Zombies You Can Run Over For $1.19 Or Less

Yes, it's impossible for Android Police to release a game roundup without at least one zombie title. This one mixes the runner mechanic that's endlessly popular with a little platform driving and shooting, as you blast your way through the undead Southwest. You'll also be able to upgrade your four-wheeled killing machine as you progress. The full version costs just over a buck.

Drive your way through a zombie apocalypse. Give Earn to Die a test drive today, and see why the hit online game series that enjoyed OVER 200 MILLION PLAYS is bigger and better for your mobile and tablet. You're stranded in a desert surrounded by zombies. With only a run-down car and a small amount of cash at your disposal, your mission soon becomes clear – to drive through hordes of zombies in order to escape... alive.

The Croods

Android Police coverage: [New Game] The Croods, Rovio And Dreamworks' Modern Stone Age Sim City, Is Live In The Play Store

Here's a Rovio game that... wait for it... has absolutely nothing to do with birds, angry or otherwise. In their first straight-up licensed game, Rovio takes on The Croods, which will be hitting a theater near you before too long. It's a mix of monster-hunting and town building, but unfortunately, the free game seems to be stuffed to the gills with in-app purchases. At least the art is nice, with a pastel 2D palette that looks better than previous Rovio titles (and in some ways, the 3D movie).

From the creators of Angry Birds and the creative minds at DreamWorks Animation: a FREE new game based on the upcoming motion picture phenomenon. Meet the world’s first modern family: The Croods. These cavemen are breaking out of the Stone Age with the use of a new r-evolutionary tool: the IDEA. The Croods will Hunt & Gather their way through spectacular new landscapes as they tame fantastic and never-seen-before creatures. Help The Croods survive the wild.. and each other.

Mini Ninjas by Square Enix

Android Police coverage: [New Game] Square Enix Recycles Some Intellectual Property With New Endless Runner Mini Ninjas [Update]

Mini Ninjas was a surprise hit on consoles and PC a few years ago, thanks to solid gameplay, appealing graphics, and family-friendly themes. Unfortunately, this isn't a full port: it's a rather uninspired endless runner, without anything new to add to the genre. On top of that, it's a $3 game (the demo only lasts a few minutes) that's packed with in-app purchases to boot. Come on, Square, stop treating mobile gamers like money trees.

Check out the free Demo now. Then choose to buy the full game, or unlock it for free with a promotional code. Mini Ninjas is the ultimate Ninja game. Based on authentic ninja values, this beautiful, fast paced, fun adventure game takes you on an epic and exciting journey, free from gruesome violence and high on Ninja fun. Join Hiro and his Mini Ninja friends as they run, jump and slash their way through amazing spellbound lands to retrieve the stolen artefact from the dragon. Do battle with the Evil Samurai Warlord’s magical army and look out for the Flying Samurai Monks

Remember Wind-up Knight? If you're looking for more 2.5D platforming, including the somewhat halting jumping mechanic, look no further. Yes, Manuganu is technically a running game, but it's far more interested in solid platforming elements than collecting coins. Avoid enemies and obstacles as you dash through multi-level stages, using the unique swipe controls to perform various moves.

Run, jump and slide from ropes, dodge rocks. Not enough? There is much more in Manuganu. Avoid swinging hammers and jump over moving ice blocks. Don’t get burned and jump between walls to collect coins and medallions. Break stone blocks and activate platforms before you fall into fog and much more... Manuganu is a 3D side- scroller running game, in which you control the boy “Manuganu”. Unlike other usual running games, Manuganu brings on the “Halt feature” to avoid swinging rocks, hammers, flames and other enemies with the right timing.

Raft Pirates

Pirates. Robots. Together in final, perfect harmony. (Wouldn't robots rust in the salt-rich environment?) Anyway, Raft Pirates is an MMO of the top-down variety so popular among browser games, with turn-based combat against an ocean full of real players. You'll need to arm your crew with decent weapons, because while you're away, your raft is fair game for other players.

Finally. What we've all been waiting for... a robot pirate-themed MMO. Take on the role of Pirate Captain, build your ship, build your crew. Head out to pirate infested waters to attack other real world players and plunder their hard earned salvage to better your ship.

  • It's a real MMO.
  • Collect salvage to build a mighty pirate ship.
  • Take real risks against real players. Their loss is your gain.
  • Soooo many weapons to build.
  • Dice-based combat.
  • It's real time. So while you're away, your robot crew will defend the ship until you get back.

Shufflepuck Cantina

If the Mos Eisley Cantina had a had an air hockey table, this would be it.

Indie game developer Agharta Studio is proud to announce the release of Shufflepuck Cantina on Google Play. Plunge into the Athanor's universe. Play in a world populated by colorful characters in an atmospheric Space Western. Face your opponents in frantic and spectacular air hockey matches. Relax and take your chances at the prize machine.

Captain Thumb

What's the most annoying thing about on-screen controls? It's the fact that your fingers inevitably cover up some of the playing area. Captain Thumb takes that particular foible out of the equation: your thumb IS the ship, and the lasers and whatnot shoot right out of your cuticle. The interesting white-on-black color scheme is icing on the proverbial cake.

Captain Thumb is an action-packed side-scrolling arcade style shooter. The game transforms your thumbs into vital actors in the game, effectively cutting out distancing control mechanics. Infinity Mode with online Leaderboard. Story Mode with 5 engaging bosses.

Infinity Space

Infinity Space is halfway between Asteroids and Angry Birds Space. You've still got that decades-old control system, but free movement and a variety of enemies populate space, and large bodies exert gravitational forces that will affect your craft. Perhaps the best part about the game is its humor - a man looking very much like Scruffy (the janitor) kicks your spaceship to get 'er moving.

Infinity Space is a game which reflects the incredible history of mankind to face the unknown. You will go into space in search of expanding humanity's achievements. Visit planets never before seen by human. Reach the longest distance that has been visited in the universe. Improve your spaceship to make new achievements. Escape the dangers of the universe: meteorites, solar rays, meteorites belts, black holes, enormous planets with incredible gravity.
