Samsung has been babbling about its Unicorn Apocalypse game for a while now. Turns out that it's not only a real thing, but it's actually in the Play Store. It also appears to be pretty crappy judging by the two-star rating. Ouch.

If you're not familiar with Unicorn Apocalypse, then you must've missed Samsung's campaign with famed director Tim Burton where the company teased it. Watch the videos above to get up to speed.

While it originally seemed like the game was purely vapor and made specifically for marketing purposes, it was actually the winner of a contest held by Samsung in collaboration with Gamespot. The creator of UA, Liquid Gamewords, wooed Sammy in all the right ways to take home the $25,000 prize. Good for them, except the bulk of the reviews in the Play Store are claiming this is nothing more than a rip off of Adult Swim's Robot Unicorn Attack. Combine that with the slew of reviewers saying the game basically doesn't work, and you have an explanation for the two-star rating.

Not cool, Samsung.

The game's free for those who would like to give it a shot for themselves.

      That's the point D:

Has nobody else noticed the joke?!

I dont get it? Is this an Apple joke? Are they actually saying they ripped off Apple? If so I dont agree with them.

Quick question, didn't Samsung know about robot unicorn attack before giving $25K to some copycats who couldn't even be bothered to make the game look a bit attractive?!

  • ProductFRED

They made it for a contest to win money. I'm not sure if they knew it would actually be released by Samsung as a real-life counterpart to a fictional, ad-world game. It still looks pretty badass.

        • Vu Viet Anh

would be ironic if you can't run a unicorn themed game on AOKP...

Haha I thought the same thing !

    • hyperbolic

The question is, why on earth you are trying to install this game ?!

  • cy_n_ic

Glitter was the only original idea. And was shot down on a national commercial lulz

This app is incompatible with all of your devices,
Or with anything, sorry we just wasted $25,000 to a useless copycat.
    Samsung.

The only unicorn on Android that is really worth anything to me is the mascot of the Android Open Kang Project.

I don't know why so many people assume unicorns can shoot rainbows out of their horns. That is such a myth, and it needs to stop being perpetuated.

Samsung copying? Psh good chance getting Samsung fan boys to admit they would ever do such a thing.
