In what seems to be a fairly arbitrary move, Google has trimmed the fat from the Play Store's Nexus 7 cover selection. The lineup, which formerly included pink, light blue, and gray, has been cut down to just the light blue color in the US, with the pink cover variant appearing outside the US. The gray cover has been axed completely.

It should be noted that this only affects the Play Store's own lineup of covers. If you're a Nexus 7 owner still looking to wrap your tablet in an official ASUS cover, the manufacturer is still advertising the full lineup of colors on its website, and a handful of colors (light gray, dark gray, pink, and light blue) are available from Newegg here.

this move really doesn't make much sense. blue and pink are the only ones available.. each depending on where you live? who the hell wants to buy blue or pink anyway?

They have to get rid of them though. They are most likely trying to prepare for the next Nexus 7 (or 8) inventory.

I detested my official Blue cover. It seemed that if I powered it on before opening it, the touchscreen wouldn't register touches until I powered it off then on again. The current case I use has a magnet in the flip so I don't even have to power my Nexus on, so much more convenient.
There are vastly better alternatives out there which are cheaper too.

I was lucky to get one of these when they were in stock a month after the N7 (16GB ) version was out. There nice.

Does this mean that my gray cover is going up in value now?

I have a blue cover and it is very bad. I was caring it in a pocket of my jacket and it turned from blue to green on the corners. I tried to wash it, but it's not dirt, it's just rubber wearing off and changing color. That happened in about 2 weeks. Touches register through the closed cover, so you have to always switch the display off before closing it . If you fold the cover back to use the tablet (which i think is the only way to use it) it deforms and just won't stay closed when the tablet put flat on a surface. There is nothing good about this cover apart from it being made from the same material as nexus 7 back.

This just means new Nexus 7s

I have the gray one and it's probably the worst cover i've ever bought for any of my tech. It looks and feels horrible. And where are the so called 'smart cover' features like you get with an iPad ? If I don't lock the screen before I close the cover it can still detect gestures through the cover. WTF ?
