Motorola, through its Feedback Network, has indicated that it is readying a "new Jelly Bean software release" for the Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX on Verizon, asking participants – as usual – to test the waters before the release is made final. We know that the RAZR/MAXX duo are set to get a 4.1 update in "Q1 2013" from Motorola's own update schedule, so the following email (sent to members of Moto's feedback network) is a good sign that things are on track.

Thanks for joining the Motorola Feedback Network. We are inviting owners of the Droid RAZR or Droid RAZR Maxx on Verizon to participate in an early preview of a new Jelly Bean software release, and provide feedback.  If you are not currently using a Droid RAZR or Droid RAZR Maxx on Verizon, please excuse and ignore this email.

Sadly – if predictably – the email avoids specific dates or time frames for the update, but we can only assume that if the update is to roll out before the end of March, the soak test will have to be fairly expedient.

Thanks, Z and M.

    Really? Now?

When I got this email I thought it was a joke. I've been running the jelly bean build since Christmas Eve!

  • Nathan Borup

I've been "soak testing" the December jelly bean update. It's been awesome. I've been getting 3 days on a single charge since i got the update

Android Police should do a comparison of which carrier has the most phones running the latest Android OS. Even with these updates, I believe none of the Verizon phones are running any 4.2.* Jelly Bean, including the Galaxy Nexus.

I don't think any phone other than the gsm galaxy nexus or the nexus 4 run android 4.2 if I'm not mistaken.

Sprint Galaxy Nexus got 4.2.1 officially.

    About time

Anyone happen to have a link to sign up for the feedback program (or maybe I should just stop being lazy & hit the search on moto.com) I doubt my lovely Droid X will be getting any further updates, but the last OTA did include "improvements for future OTA upgrades" so one can only hope :D

I have a Razor MAXX flashed to another carrier, so I got rejected. But they had no problem with including me in Photon soak tests. :-(

theres no mention of the 4.2 jelly bean update for the razr maxx hd, will it be included

  • Boycott Motorola

Everyone should boycott Motorola for taking over half a year to fix their bugs. Been Motorola fan for over a decade and now leaving. I can't wait until Samsung Galaxy S4 comes out so I can say good bye to my droid razr maxx.

    • Idon’t Know

Yeah because the S 4 has no bugs, lag, or cheap feel at all.
