Attention, kind neighbours to the north: the Amazon Mobile app now works with the Amazon.ca website. The latest update doesn't add any extra features, but Canadians can browse their own store, the US store, and stores from the UK, Germany, France, Italy, China and Japan. For Americans (and Americans only) Amazon is also offering a "Subscribe and Save" promotion: subscribe to regular monthly deliveries of five items or more and you'll save fifteen percent on the total cost. This deal isn't exclusive to the app - check it out here from your browser.

Other additions to the app include bug fixes and performance improvements. Sadly, the tablet app hasn't been given the same update treatment, so those of you with tablets will just have to suffer through Amazon.ca's mobile site for the time being.

Here's a consolation prize: the greatest sea shanty ever to come from the plains of the Great White North.

Like always, it takes forever to get a Canadian counterpart. Finally Amazon updates their app.

I always preferred the cover of this song by Captain Tractor (another Canadian band):

Would anyone care to explain the Loblaws reference in the headline? It's not mentioned in the story.

Loblaws is a huge company in Canada, I think one of the largest in food distribution. But they have since expanded to offer everything, kind of like Amazon has. They don't have an app currently ... I'm guessing this is what they meant with that reference? If not then I have no idea.
