More DashClock extensions? Well, people are pretty excited about the functionality DashClock brings. So yes, more DashClock extensions. The AnyDash extension actually opens up a world of possibilities by piping notifications from any app into DashClock. There are a few caveats, but it looks like everyone's favorite clock widget just got much more useful.

AnyDash has to be registered as an accessibility app before you can use it. This allows it to sweep up notifications from the Android system and display the appropriate icon in DashClock (nothing nefarious going on here). All you have to do is pick the app you want monitored and choose an icon. This is extremely useful if you use alternative messaging or SMS apps, for example.

In this first release you can only run a single instance of AnyDash, and it only monitors a single app. Direct linking to the app spawning the original notification also doesn't seem to be working. Still, this seems hugely useful (and it's free).

Anyone with an S III getting this to work?

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

      You need 4.2.

Didn't work for me on the latest nightly of CM10.1

It works pretty great on my Galaxy S II with CM10.1 :)

        • Andy

Works great for me on CM10.1, VZW GSIII

I was hoping I could use this with Google Play Music, but I guess I just have to wait until someone makes a separate add-on

    • QwietStorm

      In what way?

      • http://www.twitter.com/thewizkid95 Jesus Otero

Just to see the currently playing song and info. There's no need for it on the lockscreen, but I also use DashClock on my homescreen.

    • Rob J

I have an idea to implement this functionality in an upcoming anydash update

      • Dreamcasting

It's good to see the original developer here - thanks for spending some time with your audience!

        • Rob J

          No problem :-)

  • Julio M

Well.. clearly, this is all going in stock Key Lime Pie.

  • nsnsmj

It's crazy how many developers are making extensions for DashClock. Is it because it's an app from an actual Google Android dev?

    • Alvin

I don't think it matters, but it's really well built.

I guess it's because it's a close-to-perfect lockscreen that's befitting the customizability of Android. It also fits perfectly with the JB design language (being an Android engineer obviously helps) and it's a more integrated solution than say having multiple lockscreen widgets for different apps; which you can only have one in each page

Not compatible with my Verizon GN??

    • http://www.deathbycone.com Jared Kotoff

You must not be running a custom rom.

    • mgamerz

You need a phone that gets updates like a nex... Oh, sorry.

      • Dinofan01

Was that suppose to be insulting? I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus running CM10.1 with unlimited LTE. Being a GN owner is hardly anything to mock.

        • mgamerz

I am a galaxy nexus owner, I'm just making fun of Verizon :-)

Anybody know a way how to use lock screen widgets with PIN lock enabled via MS Exchange corporate email account security policies?
    I am getting no luck.

  • http://www.facebook.com/babywarez Gerardo Sarabia Molina

It is incredible how more developers are developing for a lockscreen widget instead of for the lockscreen itself.

  • helping hand

I really wished this would work with lockscreen policy, before dash clock I didn't like the swipe left because I wasn't interested in using lockscreen widgets. Now if I set up dash lock and delete the default clock then disable lockscreen widgets with lockscreen policy the dash clock widget gets deleted and the default clock comes back. I love swiping right for the camera so I don't lock that but the widget side is annoying.

    • http://twitter.com/Vizualize a.d.AM

you can move them around by long pressing the lockscreen widgets. just make dash clock the "default" lock screen widget. you will only see dash clock when you hit the power button and if you swipe right to left you get the camera. no need to swipe the other direction to other lock screen widgets.

Will it work with widget locker ?

    • http://www.facebook.com/rodrigomontaleao Rodrigo Montaleão

Yes, it works. Have it here on my S3 (Slim Bean rom) running with Widget Locker. But I'm already on 4.2.1, only using Widget Locker because it's WAY better than the stock lockscreen (even on 4.2.1)>

      • http://www.facebook.com/unethical.hacker Adie Bhatt

Thanks a lot. Stuck on 4.1.2

  • http://twitter.com/bat0nas Tomas Misevičius

Seems that my problem is massive. Can't use lock screen widgets with Corporate mail account (Exchange).

Please star those issues. Maybe it will attract Google Dev attention. Thanks!

    • Lucas Laws

This isn't a Google issue. This is part of the exchange security policy preventing this.

  • Rob J

Just to let you know the next release will link to the app you've chosen instead of sending you back to the home screen :-)

  • armshouse

I think Google should merge dash clock in stock. Blends so well with the rest of android!

    • Rob J

This is what their original Lockscreen should have been. You create a plugin for it, that means you get a uniformed look instead of all kinds of different widgets that behave different and look different etc.. Roman has done a great job

  • Dek

Not compatible with my One X

    • Jared

Are you running 4.2.x? If not, it won't be compatible.

  • bse88

Its like a beautiful holified version of executive assistant.

  • Cristian Chaves

This was causing a lot of FC in other apps on my Galaxy Nexus running stock JB 4.2.2. I uninstalled it and the FC stopped... It's a shame

  • http://twitter.com/MikeJS23 Michael Smith

There's a pro version too which supports up to 3 AnyDash Widgets. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=robj.any.dashpro

Please ad "(4.2 Required)" somewhere (title) like you used to for root only apps, Thanks

  • Alex

    172$ for such app?! kidding?

    • Alex

      nvm i got it
