Sprint is rolling out a small over the air update to the LG Mach this morning, software version LS860ZV7. The update brings a new Sprint TV icon (oh boy!) and "California battery standards compliance," whatever that entails.

LG Mach Software Update - LS860ZV7

Enhancements/Fixes

- California battery standards compliance

- Updated Sprint TV icon

The update will be rolling out over the next 5 days. For more information, check out the Sprint community post regarding the update, here.

It has a new radio, new recovery image, updates Magazines, Chrome, and LGBookmarksProvider, as well as some general patches around the system partition and weights in at ~78MB. I don't have a link, I tried (and failed), and now I can't even install the update anymore cause it says I'm up to date again.

Also you have the update titled wrong:

    • mgamerz

Also I'm pretty sure it breaks root.

      • sIXfiNgeRedMAn

Confirmed, this breaks root. I didn't want to do the update but it was bloody annoying having the phone pop up every 20 minutes to tell me an update is available.

Bin4ry_v18 Root with Restore also appears to be no longer working following the update, any advice?

        • mgamerz

Would have had to do ota root keeper. I haven't updated cause I broke the updater.

          • sIXfiNgeRedMAn

i guess it is too late, but just for my info, what is ota root keeper?

          • mgamerz

It seems to move the su binary to somewhere where it doesn't get killed by an OTA and then restores it post OTA. It works when it doesn't reflash system entirely.

If ANYONE knows how to get around this travesty..please post it...I have a previously rooted LG Intuition that, after LG's 11B update, is no longer rooted and Bin4ry screen is identical to this one....cannot get it re-rooted.

            {I am sIXfiNgeRedMAn}

I was actually so unhappy with this update that after 3 weeks of
repeated phone calls to support, 3 hard resets, and 4 visits to the corp
Sprint store they simply replaced my phone. Luckily, the replacement
was a brand-new Mach, and I immediately rooted the phone and spoofed
that the update was done. I am not convinced the minor "improvements"
listed in this update are worth risking losing root again, even though I
have purchased SuperSU and have OTA root protection enabled, I am not
willing to take that chance yet.

At least it sounds like forzando
had success regaining root with the motochopper tool, so I have
downloaded and archived it for future reference (Thanks :).

            I
am happy with the LS860Zv6 firmware, and will stay with it until there
is a compelling enough reason to allow the OTA to rape my phone again.
So if Jelly Bean appears, I may yet allow OTA. Until then, Zv6 will
remain on my device, and I will stay away from California with my phone
so that I don't break any energy compliance laws :P

Cheers for the correct version, I've also gotten in touch with Sprint about this. LS970 is the Optimus G.

      • mgamerz

I was going to reply but since my LG Mach doesn't have service I don't have a sprint number so it wouldn't even let me sign up to reply.

        • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

A Sprint forum rep informed me that she fixed it in their announcement.
