Still toting the original Galaxy Note? Still tired of the saturated colors of TouchWiz and an outdated version of Android? CyanogenMod's download center holds some good news for you, then. The Galaxy Note's AT&T and T-Mobile (US) variants got their first official CyanogenMod 10.1 nightlies today, just under a month after its younger brother, the Galaxy Note II.

Of course, like any other CM10.1 nightlies, these will bring your device closer to a true Android experience, while also offering the enhancements, customization, and features we've grown to expect from the CyanogenMod team. If that sounds like a prayer answered, you need only hit the appropriate link below to grab the latest builds.

Update: It looks like the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket (AT&T) has been added to the CM10.1 roster today as well.

Definition: A "nightly" is a bleeding edge release that is built on a daily basis, usually at night after a full day's worth of new code has been committed.

It could oftentimes be unstable and not properly tested, lacking any changelogs, but eventually evolving into alphas, betas, release candidates, and finally stable releases.

Had a feeling this would be coming soon.

Skyrocket? Means Hercules is not too far behind.

  • Ouroboross

Any recommendation on how to root my device for Note 1?

    • Kendall Cabrera

Go to the XDA AT&T Galaxy Note forums and search. I'm pretty sure though it is the first post listed in the development section.

      • Ouroboross

Found a few source non-xda. I'm backing up before flashing this rom. Man, what a long process (backup part).

        • cmptek

How are you backing up? I use tb but it still requires lots of work to get back to state. I would love a similar free option that requires less personal attention and restores everything. Emails always require full setup despite backing up.

          • Ouroboross

            I don't recall. Whatever came w/ CWM.

I accidentally wipe out system partition and neither cwm recovery nor team win can flash cm10.1 nightly. What can I do now?

  • Anthony Chastain

Anybody have any info on the i717 builds? Any more or less stable than the CM10 nightlies? I just switched back to 9 because I couldn't stand the random reboots and broken overlays anymore, not even gonna bother with 10.1 unless these issues have been addressed.

10.1 is the exact same as 10.0 regarding bugs and even a little worse with performance.

I started using the Skyrocket Preview 1 release a couple days ago and love it. Very solid so far for me. Installing nightly as I type. My only question, is Photosphere a Nexus only option or will it be on other phones as well?

    • fudgepacker

It depends on whether your phone has a gyroscope or not.

Proof: My Desire HD does not have photosphere, while my Raider 4G does.

      • Travis S

So by that the Skyrocket should get it. I hope so but we'll have to wait and see.

  • Ouroboross

    I get this message:

I got the same thing so I downloaded the file and installed it manually no problem. It is probably a good idea to do a factory reset and wipe beforehand.

      • Ouroboross

Switched TeamWin recovery and it worked.

However, after I installed GApps I get the message:
        "Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped."

        • Travis S

That's odd. TeamChopsticks recommends ClockworkMod Recovery and say they won't support other recoveries. Had the same issue with the second nightly so I guess it's manual installs until they figure out the issue. No biggie.

          • Ouroboross

Weird issue. The message keeps popping up after confirmation (pressed OK).
            Also, "com.google.process" also stopped.

          • Travis S

Time to hit up the XDA forum for some help. A lot of smart people there. Wish I knew more.

          • Ouroboross

I got it working. Thanks for advice.

I got an older team win that was causing the message error status 7 above. The same error occurs for older cm recovery also.

Loving my og note w/ cm10.1!!!

    • BAM1789

Status 7 errors are an incompatible recovery error. This happens on Canadian versions of the Gs3 also, and all the they need to do is have their respective d2att/tmo recoveries. Make sure yours is up to date.

Upgrade to the latest version of clockworkmod build

  • Jon Garrett

I don't understand why people bother with these "custom" ROMS. they're full of bugs, unstable and some features like the camera stop working.

    • Ouroboross

I got spare phones that I like to test out. So if one doesn't work, I can setup a spare one w/ stock firmware.

    • Napster87

because custom ROMS can also fix bugs, add features and prolong battery life throughout the day. You think people don't experience bugs on stock ROMS?

  • NEL

    wheres the att link?

  • Benmartin1974

I'd been thinking of buying a galaxy note for a couple of weeks. I read loads of reviews and this one was useful http://search4reviews.net/ , I got my package last week and am very happy. I Would highly recommend to anyone still unsure.

does anyone know how to take a screenshot on the skyrocket with 10.1?
