United Kingdom readers, never say we didn't do anything for you. If you've been patiently waiting for Sony's new flagship phone, you can pick up some pretty sweet studio-quality headphones at the same time. If you pre-order the Xperia Z through one of Sony's partners, you can pick up a pair of Sony MDR-1R headphones for free, gratis, and nothing.

You don't even have to buy it outright - O2 and Three UK are both offering subsidized versions which qualify for the free headphones. If you'd rather go for an unlocked model, both Carphone Warehouse and Phones4u are participating in the pre-order.

A quick glance around the net shows these cans getting 4-5 stars from major review sites like Cnet. We're not audiophiles here, but it looks like you could do a lot worse for a pair of 40mm around-the-ear headphones... and you couldn't do better for free. The MDR-1R's street price is closer to 200 pounds than 300 - still a pretty great deal if you're planning on buying the Xperia Z. If you want to take advantage of this deal, make sure and get your pre-order in via Sony's site before February 27th.

you can't buy it sim free, contract only.
    Just letting you know.

you can buy it at three for 450quids with a 10 quids PAYG. Still a lot cheaper than most of what the webs are offering. Amazon is offering for 560 for a sim-free!

Those look super sexy together. If they offer something like this in the US I will be all over it. Trying to hold out for the S4 and look at the HTC M7, but this might lure me in. LOL

I was in a Three store here in the UK the other day and the rep said that these cans include NFC, so you can simply tap the phone to the cans to make a (Bluetooth) connection. Now, I did some Googling, and it looks like there are two versions, the Sony MDR-1R and the MDR-1RBT. However, Sony don't mention the BT suffixed model on their Xperia Z promos site, so can anyone clarify?

If only LG made headphones like that to accompany my Nexus 4 ... Oh well, guess I'll just keep rocking my AKG 451's
