It seems HTC has all but officially decided to drop its practice of unveiling its new handset lineup at MWC this year, scheduling press events mere days before the beginning of the mobile trade show. The company has sent out invitations to events in both New York City and London on February 19th, though it has provided no indication as to exactly what will be unveiled.

However, it seems a given at this point that we'll be seeing HTC's new flagship Android handset, codenamed M7. If HTC's One series announcement last year was any evidence, it's possible some smaller down-market sister devices are going to be in tow, as well. Typically, HTC has chosen to announce its latest and greatest at MWC. But with Samsung, Motorola, and even LG holding their own private press events for major device announcements in the last year, there's clear pressure on HTC to follow suit.

What's really odd, though, is the fact that HTC is holding a simultaneous press event in London. Like, at the same time. I'm not sure how HTC's going to pull this off, but if it involves a hologram Peter Chou, I am 100% on-board. They could bring Tupac, too.

We'll be covering the event live from NYC next month.

"I'm not sure how HTC's going to pull this off, but if it involves a hologram Peter Chou, I am 100% on-board. They could bring Tupac, too." Makes me laugh :D

Hope they will unveil more devices than only M7.

I hope they'll unveil only TWO more MAX. They seriously need to focus, too many devices who gets left out. One V anyone?

M7 is still my next phone though. Time to hand my Sensation to one of my young siblings.

I would like to see phone with android 4.2, WP 8X body, 4,3" 720p display, S4 pro and 1,5 GB RAM at least.

I would like to see device with android 4.2, WP 8X body, 720p display, S4 pro, 1,5 GB RAM and big battery. Something like true One S successor.

They need to stick with 3 devices...high-end, mid-range, and low-end. For instance, M7, M5, and M3 (perfect for BMW owners). I really thought they were going to do just 3 models last year, but then they busted out with different variations of the 3 main models, and it got to be just as ridiculous as the year before that.

I've got a feeling we'll get lucky and HTC will send somebody else to present in New York. Of course, that could turn out badly like it did for Samsung when they let loose the S3. I know I wasn't the only person who thought the S3 presenters were awful (especially the girl, but the guy was pretty bad too).
