Space Ace

Android Police coverage: Don Bluth Insists On Making Your Life Weirder By Releasing The Laserdisc Classic 'Space Ace' On Android

Just in case you didn't get enough 80s-flavored nostalgia from Dragon's Lair, legendary animator Don Bluth has pulled a lesser-known gem from his Laserdisc backlog. Space Ace plays exactly like Dragon's Lair (which is to say, a lot like the "press X not to die" quick time events of modern games) with a science fiction slant. The Great Fusion

Android Police coverage: [New Game] The Great Fusion Is An Adventure Game That Hates The Future... In A Fun Way

The Great Fusion is a game that tackles social injustice, the failings of capitalism, abuse of the legal system by corporations, and ridiculous iron-clad copyright laws. Into this bleak future is thrust Max, a talented but unappreciated programmer (who's not an author insert in any way, my word, no). It's another point-and-click adventure game with a creative setting, in the tradition of Grim Fandango.

Year 2022: Society has truly changed during the last decade. The good old times have vanished. Discover this unusual and hilarious graphic adventure inspired by our childhood’s point-and-click classic adventure games. The Great Fusion is a third person graphic adventure set in the year 2022. Rich people are richer and poor people are even poorer. Laws are absurd, the Copyright crusaders prosecute free culture and large corporations are managed by incompetents. And that’s science fiction, right?

King's Bounty: Legions

Android Police coverage: King's Bounty: Legions Comes To Android, Brings Turn-Based Fantasy Strategy Along With It

King's Bounty is a PC classic, one of the original western-style RPGs that helped influence the Skyrims and Dragon Ages of today. Combat is turn-based (so, pretty easy to manage on a touchscreen) and you can recruit some of the various monsters on your journey to recover the Scepter of McGuffin from Arech Dragonbreath. Ah, simpler times.

Forge and equip your army of fantasy creatures, fight and defeat your enemies, find allies and save the King’s Bounty world. In the 3D universe of King’s Bounty you will command an army of strong, will-powered faithful warriors that will obey your every order. Choose from the best soldiers, provide them with the most effective equipment, and lead them to victory. Be wise, be brave, be the winner.

The Lords of Midnight

Android Police coverage: ZX Spectrum/Commodore 64 Classic 'Lords Of Midnight' Comes To Android – 'The War Of The Solstice Has Begun'

If you've never heard of Lords of Midnight, then congratulations - you're statistically fated to inherit a crippling national debt, environmental decay, and an incredible sense of ennui in late life. For those who remember the 1984 classic, a return to the strategy RPG styling of Lords of Midnight will be a welcome bit of nostalgia. Hero it up with your original party, or recruit more than 20 warlords to defeat the armies of Doomdark. Yes, really.

Mike Singleton's '84 classic Adventure Strategy game, brought to and updated for Android. Some users have reported a black screen of death when starting the game. The problem seems to manifest itself if the device is held in portrait mode before the game starts. Holding the device in Landscape mode usually fixes the issue. Please contact support if you experience the problem. I've tried to make this compatible with as many Android devices as possible without actually owning them all. Hopefully we won't have too many hiccups along the way. If you have any issues please please contact me through www.thelordsofmidnight.com/support so that I can work with you to resolve them.

Stargate Command

DaaaaDAAAAAAAADaDaDaDaDAAAAAAA... SG-1's been off the air for years, but it's never too late to cash in on a sci-fi franchise (or even a SyFy one). Stargate Command lets you play as everyone's favorite snake infestation, Teal'c, in a mix of Infinity Blade-style "combat" and turret-based shooting. You can engage in a little Stargate trivia and explore the SGC as well. Or you could just rewatch Window of Opportunity.

Stargate Command is under attack by legions of enemies and only Teal’c remains to defend the SGC in a series of one-on-one battles against Jaffa, Replicators and Goa’uld. Left alone, Teal’c, the beloved Jaffa warrior allied with SG-1, must defend the SGC from being overrun by the enemy. Can he hold off the invasion with his staff weapon and awesome combat skills? Each enemy unleashes a variety of attacks so be ready to dodge quickly and strike back. Earn XP by defeating enemies and cash it in to bolster Teal’c’s health, shield, attack and defense.

Killer Escape

Android Police coverage: [New Game] Killer Escape Brings Survival Horror And Point-And-Click Adventure Together

Point-and-click games are experiencing quite a revival on Android, but even in the currently crowded field, there's nothing quite like Killer Escape. This 3D horror game has you escaping from a serial killer (natch) through a series of randomly-generated puzzles. Graphics look amazingly spooky, though those with older hardware may be out of luck.

Escape from a serial killer. You awake in a cold and dirty cell confronted by a twisted serial killer. Your only option is to escape from this hell.

Steampunk Racing 3D

Android Police coverage: [New Game] Steampunk Racing 3D Is Wacky Races By Way Of Tim Burton

If you ever thought that Wacky Races lacked a certain turn of the century industrial flair, Steampunk Racing is right up your alley. In this kart racer you can choose from a variety of jalopies, which seem to have been given all the creativity and attention that the tracks themselves weren't. Battle Alert - Red Uprising

Attention, intellectual property lawyers: Battle Alert - Red Uprising is in no way, shape or form related to Command & Conquer: Red Alert. Certainly not. Grid-based building and unit creation? World War II setting? Resource gathering? Cartoonish violence? Mere circumstantial similarities. There are at least a couple of important differences: inspiration from the tower defense genre, and multiplayer is skewed in favor of those who have paid to win. Oh, and the bad guys are called the NOD brothers. Come on, Empire Game Studio, you're not even trying.

Download Battle Alert for free to experience a real and interesting war. Combat mixed tower defense and strategy. Upgrade your Marine, Flamethrowers, Grizzle Tanks or other powerful units. Lead your army to attack and get lots of resource. It's time for you to rule the world. Red Warfare

Two Red Alert clones in the same roundup? Aren't we lucky. Red Warfare is even more brazen about its association with Activision's strategy classic, lifting units, buildings, terrain and setting from everyone's favorite over-the-top WWII spoof. They even let you know that they "Represent Red Alert 2" right there in the description.

Bring your Apocalypse Tank, Let's start our journey of conquering the world. Apocalypse Tank、Navy SEAL、Black Eagle Jet,V3 Rocket. You are right. The red alert is coming again. In the endless war, who can be the real king to conquer the world? The most expected strategy game of 2013. Taking you back to the era of WWII. Lead the army to conquer the disorderly world with your wisdom and strategy. GO.

Asura Cross

It's hard to get behind a 2D fighter on a touch-based platform, but Gamevil's Asura Cross is making a go of it. It follows all the conventions of classic Japanese fighters: crazy combos, fast gameplay, and female characters who leave nothing to the imagination. Story, arcade, and online battle modes are included, but like pretty much all of Gamevil's titles, you'll have to pony up to be a contender in multiplayer.

Play the most exciting adventure fighting game for mobile. After serving in the army for two years, Jin returns home only to find himself in the middle of an ancient conspiracy. As he delves deeper into the secret world of Asura Cross, Jin meets a cast of strange men and women. He must fight them to save a friend and uncover the mysteries that surround him. Be the decision maker as you fight against enemies and alter Jin’s fate.

Race, Stunt, Fight, 2!

Full 3D racers are becoming more common on Android, but they're still overwhelmingly of the four-wheeled variety. Race, Stunt, Fight 2! believes in truth in advertising: all three elements are present in this kart racer, though I doubt Mario ever employed a chainsaw, and you can permanently unseat your opponents Carmegeddon-style.

Race stunt and fight your way across the all new Adrenaline Crew game. Choose your rider's statistics, unlock new characters as well as pick your weapons to even the score. Choose from a chainsaw, shotgun even a flamethrower as you wheelie your way down the road. Your choice of a street bike stunter, a Harley rider or even a cop. Over 50 moves, 10 weapons and countless tracks.

Glory of Sparta!

I will not make a 300 joke. I will not make a 300 joke. I will not make a 300 joke... Glory of Sparta is a mix between the Battleheart-style strategy and basic real-time strategy. While you only get one playable hero, you can summon Spartan soldiers at any time, fending off Persians, monsters, and other baddies. You'll also have to manage your camps, equipment and upgrades.

It is our solemn duty to defend Greece and dispatch his minions to Hades. We will make our stand at Thermopylae, where we will engrave in eternity the bravery and name of SPARTA.

Gravity Racing Madness

It might be easy to dismiss this one as a low-fi rip on Gravity Guy, but Gravity Racing Madness is worth a closer look. One-tap controls will flip the terrain upside down, allowing the player to control the roll of the ball. Various environmental switches will have your brain bending to get to the finish line and beyond. 50 stages and a price of zero dollars make it a compelling time waster.

Tupsu-The Furry Little Monster

Tupsu wears its inspiration (World of Goo) on its sleeve, but that doesn't make it bad. Instead of dripping goo, you control a tiny monster who swings from perch to perch on his eyeballs. It's less weird than it sounds, but only slightly. The 2D monster visuals are appealing, and the gameplay should be a hit with anyone who likes swingy-style games.

Guide Tupsu through a series of challenging and fun levels in this beautiful physics based puzzle game. In Tupsu, you connect your cute furry little monster’s eyes to floating islands that advance him closer to the stars he wants to collect. Levels offer a wide array of difficulty, some even quite challenging even for advance players. Sometimes you have to think way outside the box to clear levels. Tupsu is based on the same name award winning game that won second place in the Pokki.com 1up Contest in March 2012.

Paper Galaxy

In this game, all the celestial characters are made out of paper, and the Crab Nebula is cranky. Black Holes have little paper skull masks that eat you. Adorable design aside (the moon sneezes around space! DAAAAW) it's a pretty solid game, with a nice mix of physics and runner gameplay that'll keep you occupied.

What happens when the moon gets lost, catches a cold, and runs into the cranky Crab Nebula? A family-friendly and fun-filled chase through a galaxy of adorable planetary oddballs ensues. As Luna, you sneeze from orbit to orbit on your way back to Mother Earth. Along the way, you’ll make new friends, collect stars, and have more than a few close encounters with hot-headed Suns and mysterious Black Holes.

Touch Detective

If you're the type of irrational maniac that keeps a supply of Pocky in your desk drawer (right next to the stack of manga that's so much better than American comics) you've no doubt heard of Touch Detective. It's a more cutesy, quirky version of Nintendo's Professor Layton games - and that's saying something. Unfortunately, you'll have to pay through the nose to unlock all the stages, and early reviews indicate a poor Nintendo DS port with low resolution and constant crashing.

Rookie detective "Mackenzie" and her assistant "Funghi" solve mysterious cases. The original game of "Mushroom Garden" is finally released for Androids.

・Become Mackenzie, a fledgling detective, and solve various mysteries in a "Touch Adventure".

・The controls are simple...investigate suspicious items and people with a single touch..

・The items and testimonies you collect are the keys to the mystery...apply your deductive skills and intuition to tough(?) cases.

・Capturing a dream thief, rescuing a snow fairy...all four chapters of a mysterious tale with heart.

Cubles

In an interesting twist on the falling block puzzle, Cubles instructs players to find blocks bordering those of the same color. Obstacles are twofold: the clock, and the titular square monsters, who leap around the stage wreaking havoc on your best-laid puzzle plans. A free download and more than 80 stages makes it a no-brainer for puzzle game fans.

Are you looking for a highly addictive and super fun casual arcade/puzzle game? Then Cubles is THE game for you. It doesn't matter whether you are more into brain cracking puzzle games or simply like casual arcade games. This game offers it all and is guaranteed to give you hours and hours of addictive and challenging fun. The basics of the game are simple: find and select rectangles or squares with corners of the same color. Sounds simple right? Well wait till the Cubles hit the play-field and start being a nuisance with their water splashes, bombs and locking of tiles.

Nex (demo)

There's a reason that there aren't many first-person puzzle games around, and that reason is Portal. You can't fault Nex for lack of ambition, though, and it certainly tries to do things a little differently. Your particle gun can destroy parts of the environment, allowing your character to escape his pixel prison. The graphics are interesting (especially the effects on the gun) but reviewers call attention to poor controls for jumping and shooting. Here's the full version.

NEx is a 3d puzzle/platformer in the spirit of games like Portal and Zelda. This is the demo of NEx. It will let you play through the first ten levels. If you enjoy it please check out the full version. Note: this app will not be updated as often as the full version now that the game is out of beta. I'd like to give a huge thank you to all the beta testers..

Sand Slides (Puzzle Game)

Here's a unique idea: the only point in this game is to get the correct sand into the correct bottle. To that end, you draw guides in the space between to guide the different colors of sand along their path. Simple, right? Things get complicated when new sand pops up every few seconds, and you've got to hold or defer the flow in order to complete the level.

In this unique puzzle game you must guide the sand into the right coloured chutes, by drawing slides and buckets with your finger, but watch out. You will need to pick up the pace in order to keep on top of the action. With simple game play rules, Sand Slides is a very unique addictive puzzle game that is simple to pick up but will take some time to master.

Revenge of the Rob-O-Bot

There's not a lot to say about pinball games - keep the balls on the table and you're doing well. Even so, Revenge of the Rob-O-Bot looks like an exceptional (and appropriate) entry for Android, with a full 3D table and special attention paid to physics. The Flash Gordon-inspired theme, with some really fantastic element art, doesn't hurt.

Classic pinball at its best; fantastic physics, great sound and fast gameplay. Revenge of the Rob-O-Bot is classic pinball at its best; with fantastic physical feel, great sound and realistic gameplay. And a bit rugged and worn from its years of use in the arcades, as it should be. The Intergalactical Rob-O-Bot has invaded Femtopia and is laying waste to this once peaceful city of the future. No-one knows why or where he comes from. It’s not important. Just help Bazooka Commandrix Betty to save the metropolis from destruction. ...But beware, the Rob-O-Bot is programmed for REVENGE.

Doodle Army Boot Camp

Dead City

You didn't think we'd get through this roundup without at least one zombie game, did you? Dead City is a standard dual-stick shooter with the addition of vehicle sections, where it isn't a drive if you're not picking bits of undead spleen out of your grille at the end. The art style is a bit grim for the current happy-go-lucky trend in zombie games, though.

Bacteria™ Arcade Edition

If Asteroids and Fantastic Voyage had a baby, it would be Bacteria. You're in control of a tiny ship assigned to protect a cluster of nerves from invading bacteria, with thruster and laser controls mirroring the classic arcade game. This title might take "classic" a bit too literally, in fact - the booming, scratchy bad guy voice at the beginning of every stage gets on your nerves in an otherwise solid shooter.

This is a strangely addictive game retro classic-style arcade game for one or two players. It has freaky style classical music - be prepared to have it's tune fixed inside your head. This game starts off slowly, but by wave 4 the game is frantic, loads going on, bullets everywhere. Inspired by multiple classic arcade games, the basic idea is to stop multiple waves of enemy bacteria from snatching away your last few remaining cells that are located in the center of the screen. However, there are also some bacteria who are intent on destroying you - so you must destroy them first. If you succeed in lasting 60 seconds then you will be rewarded with a further cell to protect on the next wave, and so on...

Duncan and Katy

Duncan and Katy looks like something you'd find in an N64 bargain bin... in a good way. The colorful environments and simple gameplay combine elements of Zelda and other action RPGs, with a dual hero system that should add some nice variety. Different creatures react to your touch differently, and environmental and time variables will keep the challenge up.

It’s Ei-Ei-Uh-OH. at Farmer Jed’s Haywire Homestead – the animals are makin’ a break for it, so you better wrangle ‘em in quicker than a hiccup. Use all kinds a herdin’ skills to scoot cluckin’ chick’ns, springy sheep and balky bovines back to their pens while avoidin’ coyotes, foxes and chick’n poxes. Things aren’t exactly OK at this corral when the terrain gets tricky; bridges collapse and the fences give you a shock, so be careful herdin’ or yer livestock won’t be live very long.

LEGO® HeroFactory Brain Attack

LEGO's latest Bionicle-type franchise may be a bit beneath most Android gamers, but Hero Factory makes for a fun and ostensibly safe top-down shooter for tykes. Build a warrior out of real LEGO parts, then set them loose in an arena with dual-stick controls, smashing brains into block-sized bits. According to the description, this free game will be regularly updated.

Action-packed LEGO® Hero Factory game – fight the evil brains. Enjoy the latest, all-action LEGO® Hero Factory game, featuring awesome 3D graphics, incredible weapons and an army of evil brains. Makuhero City is under attack and only you can save the day. Defend Makuhero City and stop the waves of brains attacking the Hero Factory. Customise your hero with fantastic weapons and armour. LEGO® City Fire Hose Frenzy

There's an attraction to games about civil service, maybe because there are only so many drug dealers you can shoot in Grand Theft Auto. And this one certainly fits the bill: who wouldn't want to be a handsome, grizzled firefighter? And by handsome, I mean square and yellow. There doesn't seem to be a lot of LEGO in LEGO City Fire Hose Frenzy, but then it's probably not aimed at you or me... who might prefer to play with actual LEGOs instead.

There’s a fire in LEGO City. Help the fireman and his trusty firedog put out the fires across LEGO City by climbing the fire truck ladder and using the fire hose. Use the fire hose to put out all of the fires in every level. Some fires will be harder to reach than others. Fires over a larger area will need you to control the helicopter. The biggest fires will need you to take charge of the Fire Truck. You will need to raise the ladder up and down and aim the hose.
