You know, for an underdog, Pantech has been proving it knows how to put out some pretty decent, affordable hardware as of late. Just two days ago, it unearthed the upcoming Discover for AT&T, and now a leak of what appears to be the VZW equivalent – the Perception – just showed up in a leak over at Unwired View.

Much like it's Big Blue-powered cousin, the Perception is said to be packing a 720p display and 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4. Other details are scant at the moment, but it's probably pretty safe to assume the rest match up with that of the Discover, as well.

No word on exactly when we'll see this not-so-mid-ranger show up on VZW shelves, but rumor has it that it could be sometime this quarter.

A legacy menu button on the phones stock first party launcher?

    Wow that's embarrassing.

Also this skin is pretty ugly.

Pretty much agree, except I strangely kinda like the gradient on the navigation buttons. I'm not sure why, I normally don't care for overpowering gradients (subtle is fine), but this one kinda looks good. However, the background is a terrible choice for a promotional shot. It doesn't match the navigation buttons and it contrasts terribly with the icon text for Phone, People, and Maps.

The legacy menu shows up in any Android version if you click press the menu button.

That hideous NFC icon needs to go... who came up with the NFC logo? seriously, thats hideous

The gradiant for the softkeys is also a terrible choice, it should be reversed so that it starts black on the bottom and blends into the bezel. This UI is just all sorts of awk

I, for one, am greatly disappointed because the Verizon logo isn't any bigger.

I really wish they did something like replace the soft home button with a giant VERIZON text. And put Verizon somewhere in the navbar. And put Verizon on the clock. Also, Verizon.

The whole thing looks like frankenstein's ass.

Any more news on when the Perception will be released? It was given FCC approval on Feb. 21. And for all the news saying it would be out either "sometime next month" (written in Feb) or "before the end of the first quarter", there is only 3 business days left in this month/quarter.
