It's going to be a long time yet before devices like the Galaxy S III and Acer's Iconia Tab A700 get Jelly Bean 4.2, and the Samsung Captivate and Galaxy S II probably won't ever get another OS version update. That's why we love us some custom ROMs, and the CyanogenMod team has released nightlies of CM10.1 to all of these devices, including the MetroPCS and US Cellular variants of the GSIII.

Definition: A "nightly" is a bleeding edge release that is built on a daily basis, usually at night after a full day's worth of new code has been committed.

It could oftentimes be unstable and not properly tested, lacking any changelogs, but eventually evolving into alphas, betas, release candidates, and finally stable releases.

You know the drill: while CyanogenMod releases are usually pretty stable, even in the nightly stage, flash at your own risk. Here's the flashable Gapps package for all CM builds.

I really hope they manage to get it out for my ancient Nexus S :'(

they already did. it is an unofficial nightly. it just means that it is build by a developer, rather than the jenkins build server. other than that: it just works

Thanks. I was about to flash it, when I read the last post: From tomorrow we should have official nightlys.
Jenkins just got order to build it: https://github.com/CyanogenMod/hudson/pull/49

        One can dream :)

It was a pleasant pre-Christmas surprise to see Android 4.2.1 on my Galaxy S II I9100 a couple of days ago. Way to go CM team!

Any variant of CM 10.1 that runs on a Samsung device AND on a CDMA network will not currently work. Waiting for the RIL to be added...

Data services are not working. Do not flash this!
