Falcon Pro (for Twitter)

Android Police review: Flying High: Falcon Pro Review

Falcon came out of nowhere and surprised us. Unlike some Twitter apps we could mention (cough, Carbon, Cough) it actually delivers on pretty much all of its promises: it's a full-featured, lightning-fast client with a great widget. It's not so incredible that it leaves mainstays like Plume in the dust, so it might not be worth it if you've already invested in something else. But it's much, much better than Twitter's native client or Tweetdeck.

Falcon PRO - The Ultimate Twitter Experience on Android. Falcon Pro brings the Ultimate Twitter Experience to your Android Phone and Tablet. Looking for a Twitter app with an Innovative UI, Buttery animations, Extra fast loading times and Unique Features ? Look no further, Falcon Pro is what you need.

Action Launcher Pro

Android Police coverage: From The Creator Of Tweet Lanes: Chris Lacy's Action Launcher Now In The Play Store

Hey look, it's another Android launcher! Wait, don't go! This one has all kinds of hidden folders and drawers, like a really expensive computer desk. The most impressive part might be that Action Launcher automatically imports your existing layout.

Getting you where you need to go, faster. Action Launcher re-imagines the concept of an Android launcher. Put simply, Action Launcher is designed to get you where you need to go, faster. It looks and feels like a natural launching pad for the Android ecosystem. Standout features include:

* Sliding app drawer for instant access to all your apps

* 'Covers', a powerful new way to quickly launch apps and shortcuts without compromising the look of your carefully crafted homescreen.

* Action bar present on the home screen

* Highly organized customization options

* Strong Play Store integration

Bazooka Launcher

Bazooka is yet another launcher based on the open-source Trebuchet, the standard homescreen replacement that comes with CyanogenMod. What makes it different? The theming engine has been greatly expanded, allowing for visual (if not functional) tweaks to just about every aspect of the app. Ice Cream Sandwich or later is required.

Extended version of Trebuchet from CyanogenMod, one of the most popular home application on the Android market. Bazooka supports personalization by setting different themes to your launcher and also replaces your lock screen similar to MiHome launcher. Bazooka uses the features and stability of Trebuchet coupled with a bunch of interface tweaks to make it fast, easy to use and lightweight. You can download many themes to personalize your home screen look and feel. Bazooka also modifies the look and feel of your lockScreen. You can also perform swipes on the lockscreen to directly jump to Contacts, Messaging, Camera etc.,

Vocre ~ Translate Voice & Text

Android Police coverage: [New App] Voice, Text Translator Vocre Comes To Android, Signature 'Table-Top UI' In Tow

This is brilliant. While Google's Translate app is perfectly functional, its bread-and-butter UI makes an extended conversation with a person in a different language an extended game of hot potato. Vocre solves this problem with a "mine and yours" opposable UI, giving two people a constant perspective while operating the voice-to-text feature. It's not exactly a Universal Translator, but it's pretty close.

Have you ever wanted or needed to communicate with someone who didn't speak your language? Vocre Translate is a fun and easy way to have a conversation with someone who speaks a different language. Vocre provides a Table-Top user interface, which is great for sitting at a table, possibly over lunch & ready to have a more lengthy conversation. Today's world is more connected than ever before; however, language still divides us. Vocre breaks down the language barrier, and brings us all closer - no matter where we are or what language we speak. Vocre is your perfect travel companion, and works quickly, allowing you to understand -- and be understood -- almost anywhere on Earth.

aeGis

Android Police coverage: CM Team Member Releases aeGis Open Source Security App - Remotely Lock, Wipe, Locate Or Alarm Your Phone With A Text

Lost your phone? Want to get an exact GPS location... or better yet, wipe it clean? That's the idea behind aeGis. Set up a few PIN-enabled security measures in the app, and if your phone is lost or stolen, borrow someone's device to text yourself. Send the code and you'll get a location, or lock it down, or erase all of your personal data. Jack Bauer approves.

aeGis is an OSS alternative to other security apps that interact via SMS. aeGis allows you to lock, locate, wipe, and alarm your phone via configurable SMS passphrases. If your phone ever goes missing or is stolen, simple text the passphrase you chose to your device to activate any of the four options. aeGis source code can be found at http://github.com/Decad3nce/Aegis

Multi-User App Share

Android 4.2 finally has multiple user profiles! Hooray! But you still have to download separate apps for each user - crap. Multi-User App Share helps save space by keeping data, not APKs, separate. That's a big help, especially if you want to play some of those massive 3D games with separate users.

Share apps between users on Android 4.2. I have created this app to help enable apps across users on Google's new 4.2 multi-user feature. It works by removing package elements from user's package-restriction.xml file to add the app and adding the package element back to remove the app. (located at datasystemusers10package-restrictions.xml where 10 is the user's id) The app will then be visible on the second profile without them having to go to the play store and install it. Apps still have separate user data so game scores ect. will not be shared.

Send It

Android Police coverage: [New App] 'SendIt' Makes It Easy To Share Files With Any Platform Over SMS

SendIt uses a combination of SMS texts and Google's account system, sending links through text to anything you want to share. If you're sharing a file, it's automatically uploaded to the public folder in your Google Drive account, where your recipient can download it at will. Easy, handy, simple.

Send It is an application that allows you to send ANYthing to ANY smartphone (iPhone, WP7 etc..) There is one universal method that comes equipped with every single smartphone.. SMS. Not MMS. Good old SMS. And there is one account almost every single android user has.. a Google Account. Combine the two and you get SendIt. Why try this over Whatsapp, Email, Bluetooth, AirDroid etc? Unlike any other application all SendIt requires to work is the recipients phone number. Nothing else. You don't need an account, they don't need to have the app, you don't need to be in the same location, they don't even need to be on the same platform.

Turbo Client | FTP FTPs SFTP

There are plenty of choices available for Android FTP managers, but few are both as feature-rich and as pretty as Turbo Client. In addition to a standard Holo interface, Turbo allows you to access FTP, FTPS, FTPES, and SFTP servers. It also supports multiple panes on tablets, making it extra desirable for those with larger screens.

It's free, complete and without ads. Turbo Client is a FTP, FTPS, FTPES and SFTP client for Android. It has a beatiful Holo Theme. It's designed for Smartphones and Tablets 8+.

-Amazing icons

-Incredibly fast

-No ads.

-Password encrypted

-Movable on SD

-SSH keys support

-Expandable notification

Ink Over Apps

Android Police coverage: [New App] Ink Over Apps Lets You Draw On Your Android Device, Then Save It As A Screenshot

The premise of Ink Over is pretty simple: it's a white board for your tablet screen. You can activate the floating app at any time from its cozy home in the status bar. Then go crazy. Annotate your apps like John Madden on Ketamine. Then save the screenshot and pass it around - "BAM" sound effects optional.

Ink Over Apps lets you draw, markup, and annotate any app on your device. It's like using a sharpie on your screen but without the mess and ruined screens. Need to highlight your emails? Want to make some comments on a PDF? Desire to draw a dinosaur on your boss's face and then send it to him? Just launch what ever app you want to draw on, draw, then press and hold volume down + power and take a screenshot of it.

aTorrent BETA - Torrent App

aTorrent isn't the only BitTorrent client for Android, but it's certainly the prettiest - get a load of that Holo interface! All the standard functions are here, including internal file management, sharing, and deep inspection of your peers and leechers. There's even a warning for when you're not plugged into a charger... because you won't get through more than a quarter of that "Linux distro" before your battery goes kaput.

Download torrents fast and easy. Absolutely new version of aTorrent - BitTorrent(tm) app. Now in BETA stage - bugs are possible. Please report errors by email.

Fixed 4.2 Clock Widget

You're a font nerd. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But the fact that Android's default clock widget in Jelly Bean 4.2 uses bold characters for the hour just eats you up inside. It's OK, friend: Fixed 4.2 Clock Widget understands. And it even fixes the lockscreen, too. A few extra font options (blessedly applied to the entire clock) allow for some customization.

Update: I am aware of the issue with the settings application crashing on 10 inch tablets and I am looking into it. This is the Android 4.2 clock widget, but with the entire time displayed in Roboto Light. It can be used as both a launcher widget and a lockscreen widget. To use, select "Fixed Clock" as the widget from the launcher (to add it to your homescreen) and/or the lockscreen (to add it there). There is also a "Fixed Clock Center" widget which additionally vertically centers the widget in whatever space it has available. This will NOT change anything simply by installing. You must add the new widget manually. A Daydream is also available.

SwitchApps

We don't know why some Android users feel compelled to skin their devices to make them look like the iPhone. We've got our top scientists and a monkey who passed the California Bar working on it, but until then, we can only treat the symptoms. Some might find a little comfort in SwitchApps, which replaces Android's stock switching function with something a little more Cupertino, as well as quick favorites, animations, and lots more. Check the video for everything the app can do.

SwitchApps, the next level of your multitasking experience on android operator device. It will change your way of switching between apps easier and faster way. Let’s forget about the old and various steps before you get to the other apps. Please Note the purpose of this app is to make you access to many apps in the simple “switching” system. Don’t worry about the complicated step, because SwitchApps is just too simple to use.

Lancer

List apps are, almost by design, simple. So why not simplify the UI down a bit as well? Lancer takes this idea to heart, tracking events and deadlines in a flat Metro style. Even so, it's pretty powerful, with multiple lists, full annotation, and integration with the phone and mail apps of your choice.

Use Lancer to track your jobs, tasks, expenses, deadlines and so much more. Lancer is an app for freelancers and small business that takes the pain out of doing what you love, and lets you focus on doing meaningful things. Lancer tracks your jobs, tasks, expenses, deadlines, wages due, notes and so much more. When you are finished a job, you can create an invoice which auto-generates all of your: tasks, expenses, wages, and the total payment due, into a handy mail, which you can send to you client(s) or save to Google Docs.

Notification Light Widget

This app does one thing: enable and disable your notification light. It's only really useful if you just can't take the blinking any longer, but it does help alleviate some software bugs on newer Motorola devices.

Notification Light Widget is a tool to enable/disable LED notification light on Android devices. On some devices (such as Motorola Droid RAZR HD), a small number of users found that the notification light was disabled after logging into their google account if it was disabled previously on other devices with the same google account. This widget restores the ability to control the light on devices without an exposed setting. On other android devices that already support control of the LED notification light, this widget could also be used as a convenient tool to enable/disable the LED notification light from the homescreen.

Smart WiFi Toggler

So you want to dynamically control your WiFi's on-off state, but Tasker is too intimidating. Then Smart WiFi Toggler is for you. The best part is that you don't actually have to program it. The app watches your behavior and your location, and after a while it just knows when and where to turn on WiFi and connect to the local network. Of course, considering how much processing power that will take, it might be better to just leave WiFi on.

Smart WiFi Toggler is an application designed to control your phone's WiFi using location based rules. Its aim is to conserve battery and minimize data charges by turning WiFi off when not connected to a network, and turning it on when a known hotspot is present. It constantly learns where your hotspots are located to make its decisions. It's a very useful application if you frequently forget to turn WiFi off when leaving a hotspot, or if you want to automatically switch from mobile data to WiFi to conserve battery whenever you're back into a hotspot.

Android Police coverage: [New App] Official Etsy App Arrives On Android To Make Shopping For Artsy Trinkets Even Easier

Beer nerds are just as dedicated as oenophiles, and they don't have to spend two hundred bucks to try something new. For those of you who love to catalog your hoppy experience, Beer Citizen lets you track, rate and share beers as you drink them. I predict many typos during Oktoberfest.

Our review system allows you to identify and quantify the intensity of individual traits observed in a particular beer. Sound Search for Google Play

Android Police coverage: Google Releases Standalone Sound Search App, Compatible With 4.0+ Devices

So, what's the reason that everyone seems to be making song recognition apps? To sell songs, of course - and it's high time Google and their strange obsession with Lana Del Rey joined the party. There's not much else that might cause you to go with Google over, say, SoundHound, unless you really, really love seeing the Play Store triangle on your homescreen.

"What's this song?" The Google Play Sound Search widget can help you recognize music and songs playing around you. You can: Identify songs, directly from your homescreen. Purchase identified songs straight from Google Play, and add them to your Plays Music library. Keep a song identification history, synced across all of your Android devices, so you can purchase a song later. Add the widget directly to your lockscreen, so you can recognize songs even faster (for devices running Android 4.2)

Rhapsody SongMatch

Android Police coverage: Rhapsody Throws Its Hat Into The Song-Matching Ring, Launches The Aptly-Named Songmatch

There are a ton of song matching options out there, but Rhapsody's is actually pretty good - at least if you're a user of their cloud music platform. Songmatch can automatically play a song that your hear (or hum, or whistle, or whatever) and play or download it.

Hear it. Match it. Play it. Rhapsody SongMatch – it’s free. What’s that song? Use Rhapsody SongMatch to find the name of the song with just one click. Once the app identifies the song, it instantly saves the title to a playlist in your Rhapsody account. That means you can listen to those songs whenever you want. Whether you're already a member of America’s #1 digital music subscription service or not, just install the app and start matching.

motiongraph

Android Police coverage: Sony Launches Cinemagram Competitor Motiongraph – Quickly, Easily Create Creepily Awesome Animated Photos

If your sole interactions with Sony have been on the mobile hardware front, you might not be aware of the company's media empire - music, television, movies, video games, and surprisingly, software. Sony's bringing some of its Vegas video chops to Android with Motiongraph, a short video editor in the vein of Cinemagram. The editing tools are considerably more powerful, and definitely worth a look for wannabe Kubricks.

Snapseed

Android Police coverage: Snapseed, The Image Editor That Google Bought After It Won iPad App Of The Year, Is Now On Android

So, this one requires a little back story: Snapseed is the Photoshop of the iOS world. It's a position that's quite coveted, and strangely not occupied by the actual Photoshop. So Google bought up the devs and released an official Android app, sadly only for Android 4.0 and later. It's pretty basic stuff, but Snapseed should be able to put that last bit of polish on your photos.

Now the Best Mobile Photo App of 2012 (TIPA) and iPad App of the Year 2011 is available on the Android Platform. Snapseed is the only photo app you’ll want to use every day. It makes any photograph extraordinary with a fun, high-quality photo experience right at your fingertips. Talking Friends Superstar

Android Police coverage: Outfit7, The Maker Of Talking Tom And Friends, Launches Real-Life Talking Toys That Can Be Controlled With An App

There's always been something mildly creepy to me about Talking Tom Cat. It almost looks like he could jump out of the screen and OH GOD, NO! THE MAYANS WERE RIGHT!

Bring Your Apps To Life. This app talks exclusively with the Talking Friends Superstar toy line. When you launch the app, make sure your Superstar toy is on. Your Superstar toy automatically connects with the app on launch, as indicated by the corresponding character waking up on screen. To start the fun, simply pick from the wide selection of buttons to get a particular sound from your Superstar toy. To switch to a whole new variety of sounds, press on the Rotate Screen button in the right bottom corner.

How Lucky You Are - Dr. Seuss

Here's another entry in the semi-animated omBook reworking of Dr. Seuss books. It's got the same narration and follow-the-bouncing-ball features designed for young readers - great for both entertaining and educating your tots. Hey, Artem, keep track of these for your new rugrat.

Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are? by Dr. Seuss reminds children that no matter what their struggles may be, they should always be thankful. This wildly imaginative collection of rhymes and illustrations will bring laughter and gratitude to the whole family. New features only available in this omBook include professional narration, background audio and enlarged artwork for each scene. To promote reading in young children, individual words are highlighted as the story is read and words zoom up when pictures are touched. By combining the original text and artwork of Dr. Seuss with features that entertain and promote reading, this omBook appeals to readers of all ages.

Instabridge Wi-Fi client

We've seen a few of these apps in the last few months: a sort of social network of WiFi hotspots. If you and your friends have Instabridge, you can swap info and use each other's WiFi access points without having to worry about passwords. Why use Instabridge over other apps featured in our previous roundups? Well, no reason, really - unless you've got a group of people already using it. Currently only Nordic and Baltic countries have access.

Forget about entering passwords, Instabridge is Wi-Fi that just works. Instabridge is in beta and currently country restricted to the Nordic and Baltic countries. Use your friends' Wi-Fi and let them use yours. Surf faster, use less battery, and lower your phone bill. Instabridge currently requires you to log on with your Facebook account. In the future we hope to also support the address book. We do not post anything on your wall or use your Facebook account in any other way than to retrieve your friend list.

Let's Create! Christmas

I've never understood the obsession with Christmas ornaments. They're tiny, fragile balls of glass or ceramic, with no purpose at all other than decoration. Slice Keyboard Demo

Android Police coverage: 'Slice Keyboard' Is A Multi-Touch Keyboard For Android Tablets, And It Will Break Your Brain

QWERTY keyboards are pretty universal, no matter what the Dvorak crazies say. But even with some great alternatives out there, touchscreen keyboards are no fun to use. The latest alternative is Slice, which takes a decidedly sci-fi approach to the problem by tying a typical QWERTY layout up in multi-touch circles. Watch the video below for a look at this brain-melting approach to tablet input.

The Slice Keyboard is an innovative touch keyboard design that makes it possible to touch type on a touch screen. Slice's main innovation is a blank home row where you place your fingers. Then keys are shown depending on which fingers are placed on the home row. Each key is in a direction relative to the keys on the home row. This allows you to type without having to look at the keys. The home row positions can statically placed or adjust to your finger placement. Also you have easy access to punctuation, special characters and a number pad. Slice keyboard supports Android tablets 7" and larger. Slice Keyboard Demo comes with the typing area, and a Space Invaders like game for typing practice.

Live Wallpaper Daydream

Android Police coverage: [New App] Use Any Live Wallpaper As A Daydream In Android 4.2 With 'Live Wallpaper Daydream'

Allows you to use the current live wallpaper as a Daydream. This app does not have a launcher icon. Look for it in the Android settings, in the Daydream section. Please note that this is limited to using your current wallpaper. This is an Android limitation, and is for security reasons. Apps cannot start live wallpapers that are not part of the same package, because live wallpapers are technically background services. Each individual live wallpaper can be made compatible with daydreams by its own developer. I plan to do this with the Cypher Cove ones soon. Thanks for your patience.
