When the Nexus 4 was officially launched, it sold out quickly. A couple weeks later, Google re-opened the orders for another go. It went a little bit smoother the second time, but users were left waiting anywhere between two to eight weeks to get their glorious N4s. During all of this, though, the official bumper cases were sold out basically the entire time. Some users were able to grab one during the initial order process, but that's the extent of it - they've been out of stock ever since.

They're finally back now (on the U.S. Play Store, anyway. Something tells me they'll be gone again shortly, so you better hurry and jump on it if you plan on picking one up.

Thanks, Calvin!

i wish i could just get my phone already. there has been a complete break down in every aspect of this phone launch. people getting the phones at random regardless of their estimated wait period. and people with RMAs have been put behind people ordering for the first time. complete nonsense.

    • http://twitter.com/restinbeast Bradley Stone

Yeah it's been pretty haphazard... I received my second Nexus 4 yesterday. I honestly forgot I ordered it. Already sold on ebay. My initial shipping estimate was like 6-8 weeks, seems like it took about 1 week. That being said, living in Southern Cali, it seems like I get everything very quickly.

  • ruperto17

Ordered 3! Even though I probably won't see my phones til next year..

  • dirtyid

How much is shipping for bumpers? I'm annoyed I'll end up paying for separate shipping from the phone and eventually the wireless charging orb, assuming it's not vaporware.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

      $5.99 for 2-day shipping.

      • pete

11 bucks in australia so total is 31 bucks. email google and they refund shipping if its delayed

    • Mark Thompson

I bought 2 and the shipping was $6 and 2 day UPS

  • fajitatt

Thanks so much Cameron (and Android Police). Though I just ordered a Diztronic case that should be in today, I went for the official bumper. :)

I just got the diztronic, it's an absolutely fantastic case. I hated my official bumper since the day I got it.

      • Jimmy Li

I actually literally just got the diztronic matte black case. It's awesome. Had to maneuver it so that the Xtremeguard sp didn't lift on the corners when I slipped it on.

I had the bumper when I initially got the N4, but sold it because I didn't like it for a profit. Just bought another to hold me off if I ever decide to go back to it. The only reason I do not like it is because, with the bumper on, none of my universal cases fit the phone. It makes the phone wide! lol

        • TOMMMMMM

yes, thats exactly my problem, it feels too wide and reminds me of the BlackBerry Bold 9000.

        • Bob G

          1. The Diztronic case WILL destroy your screen protector in due time.
          2. I don't think you are supposed to put another case on top of the bumper...

          • Jimmy Li

I'll take my chances with the sp. I mean I have two other ones. I got three back and fronts for 6 bux. A small price to pay for peace of mind. And the case I am referring to is a leather holster case that's big enough for the phone.

          • Jimmy Li

Got the bumper and sold it. Didn't like I couldn't use any holsters/leather or otherwise to hold or clip it to my belt. But I did have one universal pouch holster that fit, but it was way too big for my britches lol. The other thing, I have diztronic tpu and also the ultra hard shell. Both play fine with the 2nd gen Xtreme Guard front and back screen protectors. I also had them on when I had the bumper installed. No issues then either.

      • moelsen8

how is the diztronic? i've seen a lot of chatter this afternoon about it in a bunch of comments.. almost ready to pull the trigger myself. but is it a hard plastic tpu, or a softer gellier tpu? i like the softer (but not gel itself) instead of the very rigid tpu ones.

        • needa

its soft tpu. fits great. buttons are easy to press. i even think it makes it easier to find the wake button. the problem is... i hate using a case and there is no beauty left on this gorgeous phone. the phone really feels like a cheap samsung with the diztronic.

  • http://twitter.com/xhaxol Vetal

it makes the phone way wider and a little uncomfortable to hold. sold mine on ebay. It is very nice quality though.

  • Bleakvision

    So tired of this.

  • Mike Loomis

I just bought one and now I feel somewhat dirty. It seems a little expensive for what it is, and $6 shipping? Meh, Santa bought it for me, I guess. What a guy!

  • needa

just bought two. googles little fiasco of charging and uncharging and charging again kinda got my card to deactivate itself, but its all squared away now.

for those that feel 'dirty', if they sell out again you can always sell on ebay for profit.

  • fixxmyhead

pffft some cheap bumper that gives u the illusion that it protects. no thanks, it will hardly protect if any. this is only for clumsy people

  • legend618

    where is the nexus 4?

  • WySSOne

Ugh sold out, this sucks and then there are all these assholes buying multiples so they can turn a profit.

    • TomCos

Seriously I've been waiting 3 weeks to get one. I was just going to say the same thing as you....and these idiots buy 3. Dumb.

      • WySSOne

The phone was enough frustration, now i cant get a stupid bumper for it and i'm scared to death of scratching the back. I ordered a protector film for the front and rear from Amazon, it came in last night and its just the screen protector, ordered a different kit last night. Bumper would be awesome but the frustration continues, irritating x 1000.....

        • TomCos

Yea i hear ya (was hard enough to find one). Love this phone, but I have all the stupid problems (noise when you shake it, buzzing in the ear piece). I just ordered a screen protector too, the back glass is raising my stress level lol

      • ruperto17

I ordered 3 but not to turn a profit. I actually ordered 3 phones for me and family.

        • TomCos

ruperto17, wasn't directed at you. Just in general, feel like a lot of people (even people not in this thread) have been doing this.

      • Thuan Bui

At least stock gets released for US. Still no stock for UK. I hope we get stock next week!

    • needa

what sucks is not keeping an eye on the blogs or the play store that i log into a few times a day to see if they have put em back up for sale. i will sell you my extra one for the price of the two i purchased. plus tax and ship. plus your ship. and my time to package and ship.

      -one if many assholes.

  • http://www.facebook.com/andrew.boyle.395 Andrew Boyle

SOLD OUT! Glad I grabbed on when I did.

  • Christopher Iverson

Ahh well. Already dinged my N4, nothing bad just dented the chrome strip around the edge. I wish I had a bumper to prevent that

  • wireless

    how about wireless charger

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=2065024 Jan Romero

Just got one, now I just need a back screen protector and I'm set :)

  • Hector Lopez

Fuc..... Google can't get enough for all?

  • abel

all of ull complaining !! At least ull can get the NEXUS 4 in your country!!

  • Kareem

some ppl buy many to sell on ebay :(

  • http://twitter.com/Vizualize a.d.AM

To everyone who cant get a bumper. I ordered a Rearth Nexus 4 cover for $9.99 on Amazon and I think it has free shipping. Its better than nothing if you want to protect your phone until you can get your hands on one. Im going to use both and see which one is better and easier to take off and on. I like having a naked phone when im "IN THE HOUSE!"
