n4 small

Remember earlier today when T-Mobile inexplicably cranked up the price of the LG Nexus 4 from $199 to a whopping $399 on-contract? Well, you don't have to worry about folks being gouged like that anymore. No, T-Mobile didn't realize how boneheaded that price was. It has just removed the Nexus 4 from the website entirely.

nexus 4 Tmo

The device does not show up in the list of Android phones available from T-Mobile, but it does still appear in search results on the site. However, if you try to click on the listing for the N4, there is nothing there. The site redirects you to the other phones T-Mobile has on sale. This just keeps getting weirder.

It's possible that T-Mobile has simply run out of units and doesn't foresee getting anymore for some time. It also might have decided to stop selling the phone subsidized at all. Still another possibility is that T-Mobile is in the process of fixing that ridiculous $399 price tag, and that necessitated taking the device offline for some period of time. Well, that last one might be wishful thinking, but only time will tell.

Update: Hey, how about that? The Nexus 4 has reportedly started popping back up for those checking the T-Mobile site. Some folks, myself included, have been unable to get it to show up, but we have visual proof captured just now. Be patient – it appears to be showing up for more people as the servers populate.

Update #2: Turns out the url to the Nexus page changed from this to this, so it looks like T-Mobile has issues with timely propagation while moving things around.

no its there in its all devices page with the correct price, and I can add it to cart also.

Doesn't work for a bunch of people. Still not there for me.

You might want to update your story because The #Nexus4 is back on the @Tmobile site with CORRECT $199 price. smh

    • http://twitter.com/ao9news andy o

No, it isn't. (At this moment.)

      • http://www.youtube.com/user/SuperElvisfreshlyATT Freshly_Snipes

Exactly...Select Google as the device maker and it pops right up.

        • Cuvis

What's weird is that it doesn't show up if you select Android as the OS.

  • http://twitter.com/EMovProductions Eddy Morales

It appears in searches for $399, but like the article says, clicking on the link leads you to a list of other TMo phones.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/SuperElvisfreshlyATT Freshly_Snipes

No it shows as $199 RIGHT NOW...U need to clear your cache or something. I'm looking RIGHT at it RIGHT NOW. lol..Go to the search and select Google as the maker and it shows right up.

      • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Not there for me. It may be a regional thing where some of their servers aren't serving it right?

        • EH101

Artem, don't use the actual search box. Go to see the entire smartphone selection, then in the manufacturer section down on the left column, click "Google". The database for the search box is likely just out of sync with the changes on the site.

          • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Yeah, I did that when I originally spotted it being gone, and it was gone from the Phones list. Was only present in search (that's probably indexed and reindexed separately). Now it's back everywhere, after a few hours.

          • EH101

I'm glad it's back to being right, but I wonder if those(if any) who purchased it at the higher price will get a refund to match the correct price. Also, it's interesting that T-Mobile would have such an inefficient system. I'd hazard a guess that they might be having hosting/server issues.

          • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

T-Mobile's messed up Nexus 4 related info on so many occasions, I lost count now. This is borderline incompetence. First, it has an SD card. Then, it comes with 64GB. Then, it has Wi-Fi calling. It's $199. No, wait, $399. No wait, $199. There's other stuff I'm forgetting too. Come on, T-Mo.

          • EH101

That's almost as bad as the Nexus 4 launch in general, and actually very fitting.

  • EH101

I just did a search for it, it still isn't there for me. Something fishy is going on. Or the site's cache needs to be refreshed for some.

Edit: Just went to look at the phones again, then clicked "See all on one page," then ctrl+f to "find on page" and typed "nexus". It is there and at the right price, but using the site's search still gives the Nexus 4 listing with the 399 price and clicking it takes me nowhere.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/SuperElvisfreshlyATT Freshly_Snipes

Go to the search and select Google as the maker and it shows right up.

      • EH101

We're talking about the actual search box at the top of the page, not the manual search through the list of phones (which is what you are referring to with the checkboxes).

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/SuperElvisfreshlyATT Freshly_Snipes

Here it is...It CLEARLY shows $199..You dudes are high tonight lol http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/?features=371e5c4a-3dc6-4404-86d0-c59f8d8baa3b

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Not back for me. Redirects to the phone list, like before when we posted.

      • http://www.facebook.com/andresdroid Andres Schmois

Could it be a regional thing? Edit: Nope, where it says Manufacturer just click Google. Something's really screwed up with their database linking.

        • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

It was probably a regional thing, as in we were hitting different web servers with different data.

  • semeon korsunsky

im on their site right now, looks like it says $499 to me http://i49.twitgoo.com/17qro0.jpg

Can anyone get it to show up in the phone upgrade system? Not there for me

  • lordmerovingian

I'm so glad i'm so over this phone at this moment. So much hype and speculation and ofcourse dashed expectations and bungled launch/sales availability etc.

I've never seen a company NOT wanting to take people's money. Definitely first world problems...

Nexus 4 is old news now.
