Update: According to Verizon, the Jelly Bean rollout for the RAZR HD and MAXX HD will begin next week.

The Verizon support site has been updated with Android 4.1 update docs for the RAZR HD (and the MAXX HD).

The update rollout process should follow soon, in the next week or two. The Android 4.1 update brings, as you well know by now, expandable notifications, Google Now, and a variety of tweaks like Project Butter, to make your phone run smoother than ever. The update version is 9.1.41.XT926, so be on the lookout.

Non-Jelly Bean related changes include the removal of some older Verizon bloatware apps, and the addition of the new Amazon Suite that now comes standard on all Verizon Android phones. The requisite "improved voice and data connectivity" is also in tow, and the native Motorola calendar app has seen improvements as well.

What a great way to start the day. Congrats, DRDRZRHD owners (that should be their next phone's name).

before the GS3 and before the GNEX gets a newer version.. what a shame

      ^ This.

Newer phones get stuff faster. Not a huge surprise to me.

While I'll probably find something about JB I like what I can't believe is there hasn't been an OTA update from Verizon to fix the S3's $#!++y reception. What is it between the Samsung Nexus, the Samsung S3 and Verizon? Why do other phones work well on Verizon and Samsung's don't?

      • Mike Howard

I sold my gs3 from Verizon , never could get a good signal. I highly recommend the RAZR HD. I have had many phones fortunately, The RAZR HD goes all day with a charge ,Screen is very nice, Very high quality built. The camera is better than the reviews.

        • Ryan O’Neill

Agreed. I was concerned by the mediocre camera reviews, but it's proven to be really good. Maybe not #1, but far superior to my old Android's camera.

      • Scott

Hey Boe! I stumbled across this old article. Do you still have the S3?

Hey Boe! I just stumbled across this old article. Do you still have your S3?

aren't GNEX users on 4.2 and this is a update to 4.1?

      • http://twitter.com/Bateluer Robert Boluyt

Verizon Gnex users are on 4.1.1, officially. Unless they're rooted and running a custom rom. Verizon's Nexus has been absolutely pathetic.

        • Ryan O’Neill

How long has the Vnex been on 4.1, officially?

    • ProductFRED

I have the international Galaxy S III running on Straight Talk AT&T, and I've been on Jelly Bean for over a month now. Blame it on the carriers, not Samsung. The update is finished by Samsung a long time before it's released to the carrier-branded models; it's the carriers who spend weeks filling the updates with bloat and testing them that delays everything.

Where is the love for the OG DROID RAZR?! I want some JB!

    • Ryan O’Neill

Hey, shouldn't us guys with the newer phone get JB first?

    • Scott

According to their support docs the razr will get updated to JB.

  • Dan

Just like the ICS update on the Verizon Galaxy Tab 7.7 you said was ready to go on 10/05/2012 that never happened, so I'll believe it when I see it.

    • http://twitter.com/Bateluer Robert Boluyt

Verizon has posted the official update support docs and confirmed the rollout to start next week. Unless they pull it in the next couple of days, this should be a go.

For a device that had it running when they demoed them its not all that impressive

  • Cluemeister

And the superior Rezound gets left in the dustbin again. Thanks for nothing, VZW.

    • Scott

I don't think the rezound is superior.
